Bengals WR Tee Higgins signed his franchise tag. He'll make $21.8 million on the one-year contract. Looking for a long-term deal, Higgins requested a trade multiple times this offseason and skipped last week's mandatory minicamp. But this should be the last we hear of his contract situation this year. Higgins will hit free agency next offseason.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Higgins becomes a safer 2024 fantasy pick with no risk of a holdout. He's coming off a disappointing 2023 season, missing five games and a big chunk of three others. Higgins finished just 43rd among WRs in PPR points per game.
But he'd finished top-14 at his position in PPR points per game the previous two seasons. He's back with HC Zac Taylor and QB Joe Burrow this year. And WR Tyler Boyd's departure might leave some extra targets for Higgins.
Smack dab in the middle of his prime at 25 years old, Higgins is a prime 2024 bounce-back candidate. He checks in 21st in our PPR WR rankings -- well ahead of his WR28 ADP.
Dynasty Impact
The one-year contract means uncertainty for Higgins' long-term dynasty outlook. It seems unlikely that he'll be back in Cincinnati beyond 2024 considering what the Bengals need to pay QB Joe Burrow and WR Ja'Marr Chase.
But Higgins will hit free agency at just 26 years old next March and should command a big deal if he bounces back this season.
He's a solid hold -- maybe even a buy -- at his WR22 dynasty ADP.
