CeeDee Lamb Might Get a New Deal Before Camp

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb skipped offseason workouts ahead of what’s currently a contract year. Just note: That could change at any moment. Considering potential new deals for Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons, The Athletic’s Saad Yousuf believes Lamb is the Cowboy “most likely” to get paid before training camp. Yousuf writes that the contract “framework” is already in place following Justin Jefferson’s extension.

        What They're Saying

HC Mike McCarthy downplayed any concern over Lamb’s status.

“CeeDee’s in a business situation but everybody’s engaged,” McCarthy said at OTAs. “I’ve got no qualms about our best being ready.”

The veteran HC also shared his general expectations for Lamb.

“He’s played at such a high level so it’s really just maintaining the standard,” McCarthy said. “He set that last year. We all have a responsibility too, to make sure those opportunities are in place.”

        2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Barring an injury or lengthy holdout, Lamb will remain atop our fantasy WR rankings.

A huge second half helped him finish as the overall WR1 in 2023. He’ll push for the league lead in targets again this fall.

        Dynasty Impact

Lamb turned just 25 in April. He carries a clean injury history and nothing to suggest he won’t post several more years of high-end production.

If there’s any spot for hesitation – it’s Dak Prescott’s contract status. If both sides can’t agree to a new deal, Lamb will almost certainly experience a QB downgrade.

Prescott’s ranked top-eight in adjusted completion rate in two of the past three seasons. He turns 31 in July.

        Other Winners & Losers

Brandin Cooks was named a standout of Dallas’ offseason program. The Athletic’s Jon Machota observed an improved “connection” between Prescott and Cooks.

Now, Cooks is on the wrong side of 30 – he turns 31 in September. But there’s a defined role for him to play in an offense that projects as pass-heavy. View him as a spot-start WR3/FLEX, particularly in deeper formats.
