Practicing defense attorney and fantasy analyst Drew Davenport does not expect Vikings WR Jordan Addison to be suspended this season. Addison is facing two charges of misdemeanor DUI, which could lead to a three-game suspension under the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy. But Addison's first court date isn't until October 7, and Davenport believes the case might not be decided until after this season is over.
More details from Davenport: "The fact that the arraignment is 2 months away might be normal in LA, but in most courts that's a long way off. Having said that I'd be shocked if Addison handles the case this season.
The 10/7 date won't even technically happen as he will hire counsel and plead not guilty.
The case then gets set for a Pretrial, or possibly a Motion to Suppress. Either way this timetable is exceedingly slow and I'm firmly of the belief that Addison won't face suspension this year.
I'm not going to go all-in on this opinion as there are things that can change that timeline, like plea negotiations or the Not Guilty plea being entered in advance of 10/7. But, I will say that there is no reason for Addison's camp to want this to go quick."
It's important to note that this is an opinion, not a report. And Davenport admits that things can change. Addison certainly isn't a lock to avoid a 2024 suspension. But it sounds more likely than not that he'll be eligible for all 17 games.
We'd previously projected Addison to miss one game on suspension as a hedge. We've now added that game back to his 2024 projections, bumping him up the WR rankings.
Don't be surprised if news of these charges against Addison actually lowers his ADP. It should have the opposite affect, so Addison might be a value pick in upcoming fantasy drafts.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
