Per Giants beat writer Dan Duggan, QB Daniel Jones “has looked so good physically this summer that his return to game action doesn't seem like a big deal.” Jones is set to make his preseason debut today vs. Houston.
What They're Saying
HC Brian Daboll: "He's made strides every day," Daboll observed from training camp. "It's some new guys that we're throwing to. It's the first time he's been in team (since his injury). It's been a steady improvement from when we started when he had his first go through in team and had people around his legs. There's new things, new pieces, new tight ends, new receiver. So, that's always a work in progress. At least that I've been part of, in training camp, when you're dealing with new pieces and things like that.
Him coming back from the injury, I think he's done a fantastic job. He's continuing to grow, and he's done well here these last couple weeks."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Nobody’s expecting QB1 output from Jones. Even with the addition of WR Malik Nabers, it’s hard to see Jones’ ceiling extend beyond deep-league spot-starter.
One thing to keep an eye on: Jones as a rusher. Back in his breakout 2022, he tallied 708 yards and 7 TDs on 120 rushes.
If Jones trusts his knee early in the season, it's possible he inches up our rest-of-season ranks.
For now, the Giant sits 26th in our fantasy QB rankings.
