Steelers QB Russell Wilson was limited in Thursday's practice with the calf tightness that has been bothering him throughout training camp. HC Mike Tomlin confirmed that Wilson was limited, but would not comment on when they were informed of the tightness. Wilson will be further evaluated by the Steelers medical staff.
James Palmer of Underdog: "Steelers QB Russell Wilson limited (calf) in practice today. A calf injury kept him out of a large part of training camp.
Wilson also was slated to talk to the media today, and that has been moved to tomorrow."
Wilson is the expected starter for the Steelers on Sunday against the Falcons, but he has been dealing with this calf issue throughout the offseason.
OC Arthur Smith will likely lean on the run game heavily if Wilson is playing and not 100%. It could mean slightly more opportunities for RBs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.
If Wilson is unable to go, QB Justin Fields would be the starter for the Steelers, adding more dynamic fantasy potential to an offense that lacks that type of upside.
We will keep an eye on the injury report tomorrow as well as any news coming out of Pittsburgh to try and read the pulse of if this will snowball into a major issue that could keep Wilson on the bench for Week 1.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
