Chargers RBs Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins are both going to get work, according to OC Greg Roman, but he plans to ride the hot hand if one of the RBs gets hot. With the Chargers running a more run-focused offense, whichever RB receives a majority of the carries could be in line for a solid day against the Raiders.
OC Greg Roman: "We don't overthink that. They're both going to play, and whoever's got the hot hand as I tell them, has got the hot hand. So we're going to go with the hot hand."
When HC Jim Harbaugh brought in Roman as OC, the potential for a hard-nosed run focused offense was all but certain.
Now, with former Ravens duo Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins both having a solid offseason, the split was uncertain.
Roman confirming that both players will get work makes it a committee situation, but "going with the hot hand" could make either Edwards or Dobbins fantasy viable if they do start to take off.
We will keep an eye on how the carries break down on Sunday and what the rushing trends are for the Chargers backfield to read the tea leaves for the future fantasy production of the unit.
