Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins delivered for fantasy managers in a Week 2 win over Carolina. Seeing 17 carries, the former Raven busted off 131 yards and 1 TD. He tallied a run of 40+ yards for the second straight week.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Dobbins scored on a 3rd and 1 off tackle run that showed his vision and contact balance. The run helped Dobbins finish Sunday with 7.7 yards per carry -- well ahead of Gus Edwards' mark of 3.3.
Now, Edwards finished with more carries than Dobbins – 18 to 17. But note that Dobbins’ final carry came at the 13:15 mark of the 4th quarter, while Edwards played deeper into the 4th.
Third-stringer Hassan Haskins mixed in for 3 carries, but all 3 came on the Chargers' second to last drive.
Dobbins might take work from Edwards going forward; it’s just not a requirement for a hot start to continue. Through two games, HC Jim Harbaugh’s squad has fired off a massive 60 non-QB runs. It's exactly what Harbaugh promised dating back to the spring.
The next two weeks turn up difficult matchups vs. Pittsburgh and Kansas City, but Dobbins should stick as a top-15 fantasy option.
Dynasty Impact
If you're not a contender, you can certainly consider selling Dobbins high. He turns just 26 in December but brings a well-documented injury history.
In redraft formats, however, we'd hold tight to the ultra-talented back.
Other Winners & Losers
Justin Herbert and the passing game continue to take a backseat. While the blowout win hurt for fantasy, Herbert has now attempted only 46 passes through two games.
