Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson managed just 43 yards on 13 attempts in Sunday's blowout loss to San Francisco. Stevenson also fumbled for the fourth straight game.
Here's HC Jerod Mayo on the fumble:
"Well to me, a lot of this stuff goes back to body language and showing disappointment. I always talk about those types of things," Mayo told reporters. "There's no one out there more disappointed than Rhamondre as far as his ball security issues are concerned. It is what it is, change the page and let's move forward."
Stevenson entered the year with four career fumbles.
The Patriots entered the game as big underdogs, so the poor showing wasn’t surprising.
It’s the fumbles that are particularly discouraging. Fortunately, Stevenson wasn’t punished for the miscue. Antonio Gibson started the drive post-fumble, but Stevenson was back in on the Pats’ next possession.
Overall, Gibson managed only 12 yards on 6 carries. He played 22 snaps to Stevenson's 35.
We’re likely getting close to seeing Drake Maye under center. He’ll at least have a shot to spark this offense for Week 5 date vs. Miami. The Fins will hit the road after playing on Monday night.
