Insider Jordan Schultz hears that Packers WR Christian Watson is "unlikely" to land on IR. Schultz adds that Watson is dealing with a "mild" high-ankle sprain. He's a big long shot to play vs. the Rams this weekend, and we'd still bet on him missing multiple games. But the Packers evidently expect him back before Week 9.
Watson is worth keeping stashed in fantasy leagues with deeper benches and/or IR spots. But we've seen plenty of skill-position players struggle coming back from high-ankle sprains.
This news dings WR Dontayvion Wicks' waiver-wire value a bit. But he's still likely to get multiple games in a full-time role. And, if he plays well enough, he could earn himself a starting job even when Watson returns.
