The 49ers signed QB Brock Purdy to a five-year extension as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. This $265 million contract places him fifth among QBs in total value and just inside the top-10 in yearly value.
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "49ers underwent major changes this offseason, moving on from several key players, all with the understanding that they’d soon be paying Brock Purdy a massive contract after having the best bargain in football the past three years.
Now it’s official: Purdy gets five years, $265 million, including $181 million guaranteed."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Purdy, famously known as Mr. Irrelevant in 2022, led the team to a Super Bowl in his second season. HC Kyle Shannahan's offense certainly lends itself to success from a smart QB with good physical tools.
Even accounting for the offense, Purdy remains an underrated NFL QB. He led the 49ers offense to decent success last season despite injuries to weapons like Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle.
He ranked fourth in success rate and third in yards per attempt in 2024.
He currently sits at 17th in our 2024 QB rankings as a solid QB2 who could be plugged in as a fantasy starter with a solid floor.
Dynasty Impact
Despite the success, Purdy will likely settle long-term as a low-end QB1 at best.
His rushing yards have improved every season:
- 2022: 13
- 2023: 144
- 2024: 323
With McCaffrey coming back from injury, those numbers could dip down, hurting Purdy's production this year.
At the very least, being in a consistent QB-friendly system should keep Purdy as a long term dynasty option in Superflex.
