Just Precaution: Justin Jefferson Hits the Brakes on Hamstring Strain

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson was held out of practice today with a mild hamstring strain out of an abundance of caution. HC Kevin O'Connell mentioned that Jefferson will be evaluated next week. Initial reports suggest this is not a serious injury.

Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell has announced WR Justin Jefferson has a mild hamstring strain and will be held out of practice. Jefferson will be re-evaluated next week."

Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated: "Justin Jefferson shut it down after the first period of team drills today. Said he was dealing with some tightness in his legs and wanted to be cautious, knowing it’s the second day of camp. Nothing significant."

2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Ultimately, this injury won't impact Jefferson. It is beneficial for the Vikings to be overly cautious with their star player this early in training camp.

The only downside is less time for Jefferson to get comfortable with new second-year QB J.J. McCarthy, but it sounds like this mild strain won't hold Jefferson out much longer.

Fantasy managers can breath a sigh of relief, and if this news does push Jefferson down a spot or two in your draft, you can benefit from grabbing him.
