According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Bucs QB Baker Mayfield did not practice on Friday with a contusion on his throwing hand. Pelissero also reports that Mayfield underwent testing on his hand, which ruled out any serious injury.
What They're Saying
Pelissero: “Bucs QB Baker Mayfield won’t practice today after suffering a contusion on his throwing hand Thursday, per source. Mayfield underwent scans as a precaution and ruled out a more significant injury. He’s day to day.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Mayfield closed Thursday’s session after hurting his hand. Although he missed Friday’s practice, it appears this is more of a precaution than anything else. He’s listed as day-to-day, but we’d expect Mayfield back at practice next week.
2024 was a career year for Mayfield, as he set personal bests in passing yards (4,500), TDs (41), and completion percentage (71.4%). He finished as the QB3 in fantasy, buoyed by a 7.2% TD rate -- second-highest in the league and well above his career average of 5.0%. The departure of OC Liam Coen could play a factor, but Mayfield is due for some regression in 2025 regardless.
He checks in as our QB7 in the rankings and remains a low-end QB1.
