Buccaneers GM Jason Licht was asked Tuesday if WR Chris Godwin might open the season on the PUP list (which would knock him out for the first four games). Licht's response: "That we don't know yet. He's doing very well. He's advancing through his protocols. He's exactly where they anticipated and hoped he would be at this point. We've still got a ways to go."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Bucs have spoken positively about Godwin's progress all offseason, but they've also consistently refused to commit to him being ready for Week 1.
We're about a month away from the season opener now, and Godwin doesn't seem particularly close to getting back on the field. There's still time for him to ramp up and be out there come Week 1. But, at this point, it feels just as likely that he misses the start of the season.
Other Winners & Losers
WR Emeka Egbuka's readiness to make an immediate impact could push the Bucs to be even more conservative with Godwin's return. The team would be just fine rolling out Egbuka, Mike Evans, and Jalen McMillan as their top three WRs to open the season.
Egbuka continues to climb our WR rankings.
