There's been plenty of speculation this offseason about Chiefs WR Rashee Rice's impending suspension. But there's been little reporting about the state of his game coming off last year's season-ending knee injury. The Athletic's Jesse Newell reports from training camp that Rice still looks like the Chiefs' No. 1 WR.
What They're Saying
Newell: "When he’s been out there, Rice has clearly looked like the second-best skill player behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes while getting the largest percentage of receiving targets. Rice, in other words, has looked great. And it’s particularly encouraging that he doesn’t appear to have lost any burst after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 of last season. K.C. might have to wait a few weeks until Rice becomes active. But when he’s in there, he should be the team’s clear WR1 based on what we’ve seen so far."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
That impending suspension still has Rice's 2025 fantasy value in flux. But there shouldn't be much remaining doubt about his value once he gets back on the field.
Over his last 13 healthy games, Rice has averaged:
- 7.2 catches
- 82.2 yards
- 0.46 TDs
His 18.1 PPR points per game over that stretch would have ranked eighth among WRs last year.
Rice could lose some volume to the ascending Xavier Worthy. But he projects as at least a strong WR2 in fantasy lineups, with a ceiling that climbs into WR1 territory.
