Andre Ellington Leads Week 13 Injury Report

By Jared Smola | Updated on Tue, 23 May 2023 . 1:27 PM EDT

RUNNING BACKS

Andre Ellington – It appears that Andre Ellington’s injury isn’t quite as bad the first reports indicated, but he still could miss a week or two as he recovers from a hip pointer. He suffered the injury against the Falcons this past weekend while picking up a blitz. He’s missing practice and his playing status rests upon how quickly his hip responds to treatment. Marion Grice will get the majority of work if Ellington can’t play and keep in mind that the Cards just signed running back Michael Bush.

Rashad Jennings – Giants running back Rashad Jennings had to leave Sunday’s game against the Jaguars with an ankle injury. He had to sit out the final two offensive series that led to a Giants loss. At the time, Jennings said that he could not put any weight onto the ankle. Jennings says he fine now and that the injury is not believed to be serious. It would be a crippling blow to fantasy owners if Jennings can’t play against the terrible Titans run defense during Week 14.

Reggie Bush – Lions running back Reggie Bush is scheduled to be back on the field for Sunday’s home game against the visiting Tampa Bay Bucs. Bush has been struggling with his ankle issues since Week 5, but is expected to be back in fine form.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Alshon Jeffery (Thursday Night) – Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery was limited in practice on Monday and did not participate at all in Tuesday’s practice. Jeffery has a juicy Thursday night matchup with a Dallas Defense that really knows how to give up passing yards. Keep an eye on his status, as he could wind up becoming a game-time-decision for fantasy owners.

Torrey Smith – Ravens receiver Torrey Smith was seen limping around the Baltimore locker room after Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers, but no one on the team is commenting on the extent of the injury. Apparently Ravens coach John Harbaugh isn’t worried. He made it clear to reporters that Smith would be fine and be ready for the trip to Miami to face the Dolphins.

DeSean Jackson – Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson is suffering from what some genius calls a “fibula contusion.” A better explanation would be that Jackson sustained a severe bruise to his calf bone and the best remedy for that is rest. The Redskins will likely hold Jackson out of practice for the rest of the week and see if he can suit up on Sunday against the visiting Rams.

Aaron Dobson – Patriots receiver Aaron Dobson spends more time on the sidelines than he actually does playing for New England. Dobson newest malady is a strained hamstring that he suffered after only four snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Packers. This was the first live action for Dobson since he went out during Week 6 against the Bills.

Miles Austin – Browns receiver Miles Austin has had to spend a couple of nights in Buffalo hospital after he suffered a kidney injury against the Bills. He is very unlikely to see action any time soon.

Justin Hunter (Injured Reserve) – Titans wideout Justin Hunter suffered a lacerated spleen against the Texans and has been placed on injured reserve. He was taken to the hospital on Sunday after he was seen coughing up blood. The Titans say that Hunter is doing well and should be released from the hospital in the next day or two.

TIGHT ENDS

Dwayne Allen – Colts tight end Dwayne Allen is expected to be back in action for Week 14 as the Colts travel to Cleveland. It’s still not clear whether or not Allen is dealing with a high ankle sprain, but Colts coach Chuck Pagano says Allen will be in his lineup against the Browns.
