Our experts discuss a QB, WR, and TE to start this week, plus an RB stash that you need to consider getting onto your bench despite all the bye weeks.
Best Week 8 Moves From Our Experts: Joe Flacco Is the Perfect Streamer
Best Week 8 Moves
Whether you're playing redraft or dynasty, knowing what moves to make is crucial to success.
That's why we're having each of our fantasy football experts give you one move to take advantage of this week.
Start Joe Flacco (if you need a spot-start type)
Of course you’re not benching any locked-in fantasy starter for Flacco. I wouldn’t even play him over Dak Prescott, despite the latter’s tough matchup in Denver.
But if you’re needing to replace Jayden Daniels or any of the six QBs on bye, Flacco is your best bet among the QBs likely available on your waiver wire.
That might feel point-chasey coming off Flacco’s huge Week 7. But there are reasons to believe he’ll have more big weeks going forward.
For starters, he’s throwing – no, funneling targets – to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. That dynamic duo has accounted for 58% of Flacco’s attempts over the last two weeks. Smart!
The Bengals have also returned to their pass-heavy ways with Flacco. They’ve registered a 70.9% pass rate and 65.8% neutral pass rate in Flacco’s two games – both top-4 marks league-wide.
And then there’s this weekend’s matchup. The Jets check in 31st in my Pass Defense Power Rankings. They sit a more respectable 16th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. But that’s largely because Josh Allen only needed to score 13.3 fantasy points against them in an easy Week 2 win.
The Jets have otherwise coughed up a QB7 finish to Aaron Rodgers, a QB9 week to Baker Mayfield, and a QB4 to Dak Prescott.
It’s a bad pass defense – that’ll likely be without top CB Sauce Gardner (concussion) this weekend.
With the Bengals implied for 25.5 points – seventh highest on the week – Flacco is a good bet for a solid fantasy score, with a chance for a second straight top-10 finish.
Dalton Kincaid has Overall TE1 Potential Against the Panthers (Start him!)
With six teams on bye, this may be a no-brainer for most teams, but I definitely have some close calls deciding between Kincaid and other TEs. If you are questioning, go Kincaid, because this should be a smash spot for him, according to the film.
The Panthers are one of the most Cover-3 heavy defenses in the league, playing it 43.5% of the time, third in the NFL. Kincaid has been Josh Allen’s first read often when he reads Cover-3s, and Kincaid has excelled at hovering in front of the shallow zones. According to Sharp Football, Kincaid leads the Bills with a target on 29% of his routes against Cover-3.
With the Panthers' defense being extremely strong against the run and pretty solid against slot and outside WRs, TE should be the path to victory for the Bills’ passing game. That will run through Kincaid this week.
Start Zay Flowers
Baltimore is against the wall, but there is some reason for optimism as the Ravens emerge from a Week 7 bye.
QB Lamar Jackson is back at practice and looks like he’ll be back under center this week against the Bears.
Having Jackson back will be an immense upgrade for the Ravens, and Flowers will benefit. Flowers quietly ranks ninth in route rate (94%) and seventh in target share (30%). His volume has been consistent, even through the team’s struggles. Flowers has topped double-digit PPR points and caught 5-plus receptions in five of Baltimore’s six games.
This week, the Ravens are implied to score 28.5 points, the third-most in Week 8. Chicago has also allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to opposing WRs.
Week 8 is shaping up to be a get-right spot for Baltimore’s offense, which opens a path for Flowers to post top-10 fantasy points.
Stash Isaiah Davis Ahead of the Trade Deadline
This call isn’t about what we’ve seen from Davis. He hits Week 8 with only 21 total PPR points.
Rather, this is a look at what Davis could provide if the Jets trade contract-year teammate Breece Hall. As ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote this week, Hall is “among the options generating interest” on New York’s roster. Per Fowler, the Jets will “consider dealing veterans to acquire draft capital and build for the future.”
One other factor to consider: The injury status of Braelon Allen. After undergoing knee surgery, it’s quite possible he doesn’t play again in 2025. That’d certainly give Davis a chance to start for the stretch run, should the Jets deal Hall.
I understand you might be in a bye week pinch. But if you have roster flexibility, consider stashing a potential workhorse in Davis. He’s only 15% rostered on Sleeper; 6.3% on ESPN.
