Week 8 FanDuel Cash-Game Picks

By Kevin English | Updated on Tue, 23 May 2023 . 1:27 PM EDT

Quarterback

Joe Burrow, Bengals ($7,600) vs. Tennessee

Burrow projects as the highest owned QB on FanDuel. But he also sits number 1 in our $/point ranks — so his value justifies the ownership.

Impactful wind is expected in this one with 15MPH sustained winds and gusts of 25+. But there are wind concerns in several other spots league-wide, so we can’t get too picky with the weather.

Besides, this matchup is tough to ignore. The Titans have allowed 21+ fantasy points to 5 straight QBs. Burrow, meanwhile, has put this offense on his back with 300+ yards in 5 of the past 6 weeks. The only concern here is Cincy’s O-line, which will be missing several starters. Burrow, of course, has been under fire all season.

Also consider: Aaron Rodgers

Running back

Derrick Henry, Titans ($9,500) at Cincinnati

You know Henry’s a good bet for 20-25 carries. But I like the matchup against a thin Bengals D-line. They’ve reduced the role of veteran DT Geno Atkins, while DL Carlos Dunlap was just dealt to Seattle.

As 6.5-point favorites with an implied team total of nearly 30, Henry’s positioned to excel.

Jamaal Williams, Packers ($7,000) vs. Minnesota

Aaron Jones looks likely to miss 1 more game. Last week with Jones out, Williams stepped in to handle 19 of 24 team RB carries and all 5 RB targets. He notched 114 total yards and a score against Houston.

The Vikings bring a mid-pack run D, but you have to love Williams’ scoring potential with this offense averaging nearly 33 points per game.

Also consider: Kareem Hunt, Jonathan Taylor, Darrell Henderson

Wide receiver

Davante Adams, Packers ($9,100) vs. Minnesota

Adams is the uber-high volume, Derrick Henry-like play at WR. He’s enticing almost every week he’s healthy. But he carries some extra juice this Sunday against a banged up Vikings secondary. They enter Sunday without CBs Mike Hughes, Cam Dantzler and Holton Hill.

If Adams doesn’t post 20-25+ FD points, it’ll be a surprise.

Keenan Allen, Chargers ($7,000) vs. Jacksonville

Allen’s hit 10 targets in each of his 4 full games alongside Justin Herbert. That’s resulted in 3 games with 96+ yards and 2 total scores.

Sunday’s matchup with Denver and excellent slot CB Bryce Callahan isn’t jumping off the page. But Allen’s combination of price and relative safety supplies enough appeal to play him in cash games. The industry agrees with an ownership projection of 24.8%.

Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers ($5,900) at Seattle

Here’s a good spot to save some salary. With Deebo Samuel (hamstring) out, Aiyuk will step into a larger role against the league’s leakiest secondary. The rookie’s already flashed his Round 1 talent with games of 70 and 115 yards — the latter total surfacing last week at New England.

Stunningly, the Seahawks have allowed 5 more fantasy PPG to enemy WRs than the next closest team. They figure to struggle once again, especially if S Jamal Adams (groin) remains out.

Also consider: Marquise Brown, A.J. Brown, Jarvis Landry, Denzel Mims

Tight end

Harrison Bryant, Browns ($5,000) vs. Las Vegas

This isn’t about chasing Bryant’s 19.6 FD points (fueled by 2 TDs) from Week 7. You’re looking for him to stick in a role that'll allow for another 5+ targets with Odell Beckham out for the year. Note that Bryant ran a relatively light 17 routes last week, although that number came in 5 ahead of David Njoku's total. Now with his feet wet and a poor Vegas pass rush upcoming, it's reasonable to expect a busier day for the rookie.

The Raiders supply a slight positive matchup for enemy TEs, per our SOS page. As another bonus — Bryant’s a mere $5K, helping him rank 4th at the position in our $/point projections.

Also consider: Jonnu Smith

Defense

New Orleans ($3,600) at Chicago

Titans ($4,600) at Cincinnati
