The Jaguars scored all three of their TDs on the ground in Sunday's win over the Raiders, but lead RB Travis Etienne got none of them. QB Trevor Lawrence scored from 7 yards out early in the fourth quarter and then again from a yard out in OT. RB Bhayshul Tuten scored the other rushing TD from a yard out, also in the fourth quarter. And that score came in a particularly bothersome spot. Etienne sound up with 84 rushing yards on 22 carries and a nice 5-31 receiving line on five targets.
What They're Saying
NFL Next Gen Stats: "Etienne forced a season-high nine missed tackles on 22 rush attempts, generating 43 yards after those missed tackles."
That came from Jaguars writer Daniel Griffis, who also relayed that Next Gen Stats credited Etienne with 98 rush yards after contact for the game. Yes, that's 14 more yards than his actual rushing total for the game.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Let's focus first on the good for Etienne: He set season highs in carries, catches, and (obviously) total touches in the first game since Jacksonville's bye. And Etienne clearly outperformed his official 3.8 yards per carry for the game.
Tuten's rushing TD proved particularly annoying, because it came at the end of a drive that found Etienne handling the rest of the backfield work. He specifically rushed for 20 yards and 3 yards to get Jacksonville down to the 1-yard line, and then managed no gain from the 1 on second-and-goal. Tuten then scored on the next play.
Lawrence's 1-yard TD in OT capped a drive that found Etienne and Tuten splitting work. Each guy got chances inside the 10-yard line on that possession, with Etienne nearly scoring on a direct snap from the 3-yard line.
Ultimately this game presented more positive than negative for Etienne -- especially when you factor in a Raiders D that entered the week ranked 11th in rush DVOA.
Unfortunately, a tough matchup at Houston comes next. Etienne managed a 16-56-1 rushing line and no catches in a Week 3 victory over the Texans.
After that comes better spots against the Chargers, Cardinals, and Titans.
Other Winners & Losers
Tuten also set a season high with nine carries in the win over the Raiders. That marked just a 28% share of the team's RB carries for the game, but that's a bump vs. Tuten's 18% carry share over the first seven games (according to Fantasy Points Data).
Don't let the TD vs. Vegas push you to overrate Tuten going forward. But his Week 9 usage helps his status as an upside handcuff stash.
Note, however, that Tuten actually trailed fellow rookie LeQuint Allen in playing time: 22 snaps to 20, and 14 pass routes to 6.
