Brock Bowers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (knee) put in a full week of practice and is off the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars. He’s just a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups, but O’Connell’s return is good news for WR Jakobi Meyers and TE Brock Bowers.

Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. That puts him on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars. Considering QB Desmond Ridder's performance on Monday night (59% completion rate and 5.3 yards per attempt), this is good news for TE Brock Bowers and WR Jakobi Meyers.

Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a relatively minor injury, and O'Connell hasn't even been ruled out for next Monday night's game vs. the Falcons, per Rapoport. We'll track his status throughout this week. QB Desmond Ridder will start against Atlanta if O'Connell can't. It's a situation to steer clear of, even in superflex leagues. TE Brock Bowers and WR Jakobi Meyers' outlooks won't change much based on the QB.

Raiders TE Brock Bowers went off for 10 catches, 140 yards, and 1 score in Friday's loss to Kansas City. He tallied a game-high 14 targets.

The Raiders are preparing QB Aidan O'Connell to start Friday's game vs. the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. O'Connell is working back from a broken thumb, returning to practice on Monday and taking the first-team reps, per Pelissero. The second-year QB threw for 227 yards, one TD, and one INT vs. Pittsburgh in his only full game this season. TE Brock Bowers caught nine of 10 targets for 71 yards in that one. (WR Jakobi Meyers did not play.) We're not considering O'Connell an upgrade or downgrade from QB Gardner Minshew or QB Desmond Ridder.

Raiders QB Gardner Minshew will miss the rest of the season after breaking his collarbone in Sunday's loss to the Broncos, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. HC Antonio Pierce said afterward that QB Aidan O'Connell might be ready to return from his broken thumb for Friday's game vs. the Chiefs. If not, Vegas would start QB Desmond Ridder, who went 5-for-10 for 64 yards with a lost fumble in relief of Minshew vs. Denver. We'll keep you updated on the situation, but this remains a spot to avoid in fantasy lineups.

Raiders TE Michael Mayer has been activated from the NFI list, setting him up to play against the Dolphins on Sunday. Mayer has been out for personal reasons since Week 3. He totaled just four catches on seven targets over the first three games of the season and shouldn't be in fantasy lineups. TE Brock Bowers ran a route on just 66% of pass plays with Mayer to start the season, spiking to 83% without Mayer over the last six games. But we suspect that was more a case of the Raiders easing Bowers in early in his rookie campaign. We'll keep an eye on the situation, but we're not expecting Mayer to impact Bowers' playing time.

The Raiders are expected to start QB Desmond Ridder vs. the Dolphins this weekend, according to The Athletic's Vic Tafur. The news is buried in an article about the general state of the Raiders -- and we haven't seen it reported anywhere else. But we'll go with it for now.

The Raiders fired OC Luke Getsy, offensive line coach James Cregg, and QBs coach Rich Scangarello, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Vegas ranks 29th in yards per game, 29th in yards per play, and 26th in points per game through Week 9. Getsy has never brought much to the table as a play caller, but personnel is a bigger issue for the Raiders.

Raiders TE Brock Bowers had a prime match-up against the Bengals and was pretty quiet until garbage time where he scored a TD. Bowers ended up catching five of eight targets for 45 yards and that lone score.

Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with his broken thumb, according to NFL Network. He'll be placed on IR but should be able to return this season. Vegas will now turn back to QB Gardner Minshew, who's completed 65.5% of his passes at 6.7 yards per attempt with four TDs and eight INTs this season. Consider it a lateral move for the Raiders offense.

Rookie Raiders TE Brock Bowers caught 10-of-14 targets for 93 yards. He failed again to find the end zone, but rewarded fantasy managers as one of the top scoring TEs again this week.

Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Rams. So the Raiders will again roll with WRs Tre Tucker, D.J. Turner, Kristian Wilkerson, and Alex Bachman. Try to avoid that group in fantasy lineups. TE Brock Bowers should be in for a ton of targets again.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Raiders are finalizing a deal to send WR Davante Adams to the Jets for a conditional draft pick that could become a second-rounder at peak.

Playing without Davante Adams or Jakobi Meyers, Raiders TE Brock Bowers tallied 9 catches for 71 yards in a blowout loss to Pittsburgh. His 10 targets – a 25% share – easily led all Raiders pass catchers.

Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Steelers. He joins WR Davante Adams on the sidelines, leaving Vegas without its top two WRs. TE Brock Bowers and TE Tre Tucker are the team’s best target bets today.
