Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Vikings QB Carson Wentz will start this weekend’s game vs. the Eagles, HC Kevin O’Connell announced Friday. QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) was limited in practice this week but will be the emergency third QB for this game. It sounds like Minnesota wants him to get in a full week of practice before taking back over. Wentz is only in play in 2-QB and superflex fantasy leagues, but he’s been an upgrade for WR Justin Jefferson and the rest of the passing game.
Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. QB Carson Wentz, who's dealing with a left (non-throwing) shoulder issue, was a full participant. HC Kevin O'Connell declined to name a starter on Wednesday for this weekend's game vs. the Eagles, but we're guessing it'll be Wentz unless McCarthy gets in a full practice one of these next two days.
Justin Jefferson caught 7 passes for 123 yards, and Jordan Addison scored his first TD of the season to lead the Vikings to a 21-17 come-from-behind win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The Victory gave Minnesota a split in their back-to-back international games after they dropped a 24-21 loss to Pittsburgh in Dublin, Ireland in Week 4.
Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday morning’s game vs. the Browns in London. QB Carson Wentz gets another start but will be without three starting offensive linemen (C Ryan Kelly, RT Brian O'Neill, and LG Donovan Jackson). Minnesota gets a much-needed bye in Week 6.
Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell "declined to say if he was 100% committed to [QB J.J.] McCarthy resuming his starting role once he is healthy" on Monday, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. McCarthy is out of his walking boot as he works back from a high-ankle sprain. But he's already been ruled out for Week 4, and it sounds like he's not guaranteed to immediately get the starting job back once healthy.
Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell said after Sunday's win over the Bengals that QB Carson Wentz will start next weekend's game against the Steelers in Dublin. That's not a surprise after reports that QB J.J. McCarthy would miss 2-4 weeks with his high-ankle sprain.
Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals. He didn’t practice all week and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with his high-ankle sprain. QB Carson Wentz will step in as Minnesota’s starter but is only in play as a desperation start in 2-QB and superflex leagues.
Vikings WR Justin Jefferson managed only 3 catches in Sunday night's blowout loss to the Falcons. Jefferson turned the 3 grabs into 81 scoreless yards.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings have ruled QB J.J. McCarthy out for the Vikings' Week 3. McCarthy is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that happened in the second half of Minnesota's loss in Atlanta.
Update: McCarthy has a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Vikings host the Bengals in Week 3 before heading overseas for back-to-back games. Then comes a Week 6 bye. Week 7 seems like McCarthy's likeliest return target, but we'll keep you updated on his status.
The Vikings are trading QB Sam Howell and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Eagles for fifth- and seventh-round picks in the same draft. Minnesota acquired Howell during this year’s draft, but for only a move down in Round 5. The move would seem to put Howell in competition with Tanner McKee for the backup job, but he appears to be Philly's No. 3 -- perhaps the early-season backup in case McKee's injured thumb isn't ready.
Chiefs QB Carson Wentz will start this weekend's game vs. the Broncos, HC Andy Reid said Wednesday. QB Patrick Mahomes will get the day off after clinching the AFC's No. 1 seed last week. Other key contributors like RBs Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, WRs Xavier Worthy, Marquise Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins, and TE Travis Kelce also figure to be held out or limited against Denver. Try to avoid the Chiefs offense in Week 18 fantasy lineups. They're currently implied for only 14.75 points in Denver.
