George Kittle Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) was designated to return from IR. He'll get back on the practice field this week and has a chance to play vs. the Cardinals on Sunday. We'll monitor his status over the next few days.

The 49ers have placed TE George Kittle on IR for the calf injury that already had him doubtful against the Cardinals. With a Week 6 bye mixed in, Kittle now can’t return until Week 9 at the earliest. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Sam Francisco expects him to be ready then. We’ll see whether any Niners TE becomes fantasy viable in his absence. No Kittle should leave more target share for the WRs, though

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Cardinals. It’s a surprise after he played through the calf injury last week. The ‘Niners are holding out some hope that he’ll be able to play, but Kittle should be on fantasy benches for now. Ross Dwelley is San Francisco's backup TE.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) missed practice again on Thursday. He was in the same boat at this time last week before putting in a limited practice on Friday and then playing his usual role on Sunday. We're fully expecting him to play vs. the Cardinals this weekend.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. Kittle, of course, got in just 1 limited practice last week before playing 92% of the snaps in the loss to Seattle. Kittle should be fine for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) is active for today’s game vs. the Seahawks. He only got in a limited practice on Friday and was reportedly a game-time decision. Kittle obviously carries elevated risk in Week 4 fantasy lineups -- but we’d still be using him if you waited on him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that 49ers TE George Kittle (calf) will play vs. the Seahawks today. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is a little more guarded, reporting that Kittle is still a game-time decision but that there's "optimism" that he'll play. Niners-Hawks doesn't kick off until 4:05 pm ET today, but Kittle can be penciled into fantasy lineups for now.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) is questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks. He only got in a limited practice on Friday. Kittle said Friday that he's "feeling good" but wouldn't commit to being available on Sunday. HC Kyle Shanahan, meanwhile, said he'd have a better idea of Kittle's status on Saturday. We'll continue to keep you updated on the situation.

Niners HC Kyle Shanahan didn't sound so optimistic Friday morning when asked about whether TE George Kittle will be able to play through his calf injury this week. He told KNBR radio: "I hope so. It's not guaranteed. We were hoping it would heal a little more." We'll see about his status come Sunday, but make sure you have an alternate plan available.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. The team hasn't expressed much concern about his status for this weekend's game vs. Seattle, but we've certainly got our eye on the situation. We'll see if Kittle practices Friday -- and then how he's listed on the final injury report.

49ers TE George Kittle (calf) missed Wednesday's practice. HC Kyle Shanahan said Kittle's calf is sore but that he "should be ok" for Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. We'll get another update on Kittle's status tomorrow.

SI's Grant Cohn reports that 49ers TE George Kittle has caught just 2 passes through 5 days of camp. "Instead they're using him as a blocker and a decoy while they call passes for Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and Ross Dwelley," Cohn writes. That does seem odd given the financial commitment to Kittle. We'll go ahead and give HC Kyle Shanahan the benefit of the doubt and assume he has not converted Kittle to decoy/blocker. But Kittle's early-round draft position makes this situation worth keeping an eye on -- especially given that San Francisco is bringing along a rookie QB. It's tough to imagine the Niners getting too cute just to try to hide that they like Kittle.
