Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Colts LB Shaquille Leonard (back) participated fully in practice Wednesday, pointing to a potential return for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Leonard rejoined the team late in August but wasn't quite ready to play in the opener. If he's ready for Week 2, expect LB Zaire Franklin to lose playing time.
The Colts have ruled LB Shaquille Leonard out for Sunday's opener against the Texans. The veteran is still working back from June back surgery. We'll see about his status for Week 2. Leonard's absence leaves Bobby Okereke as the best play at LB for the Colts, and a high-upside IDP option for the week.
Colts LB Shaquille Leonard hit the practice field Wednesday for the 1st time since his June back surgery. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be ready for the regular-season opener, but it's another sign that his full return is approaching. We'll watch the official practice reports on Leonard leading up to Week 1 and see if HC Frank Reich offers further status updates.
The Colts are taking LB Shaquille Leonard of the PUP list, according to multiple reports. We'll see what the team says about just when we should expect Leonard to return to the field, but this is obviously good news. It means Indy at least expects its defensive stud to be ready inside the 1st 4 games. Leonard has missed all of training camp and the preseason while recovering from June back surgery.
Colts DE Kwity Paye hurt his left knee in Wednesday's practice. Despite initial fears, however, the 2nd-year player suffered only a bone bruise "and should be fine," according to ESPN's Stephen Holder. We'll see whether the issue threatens Paye's Week 1 status.
Colts HC Frank Reich spoke positively this week about LB Shaquille (Darius) Leonard staying involved in training-camp practices despite not taking part physically, as he works back from June back surgery. But it still doesn't sound like the team knows exactly when he'll be back. "I know he is continuing good rehab, having progress, but we are still not in that mode," Reich said, per SI.com's Horseshoe Huddle. "I don't think it is imminent, but I think he is making progress." Jake Arthur told us Friday on the podcast that he doesn't think Leonard would need much practice time to be ready for the season once his body's good to go. We'll keep watching, though, for some indication of when that will be.
The Colts have activated DE Tyquan Lewis and S Rodney McLeod from the physically unable to perform list. Each guy has been working back from a knee issue, and it appears each is now ready for regular training camp participation.
The Colts have placed LB Darius Leonard on the PUP list to open training camp. It's not a surprise. Leonard had back surgery in early June, and it was reported at the time that he'd miss some of camp. Lingering trouble with the ankle that has been bothering Leonard since before last season started might be the bigger concern, though. We'll see how long the star remains on the PUP list, from which the team can activate him at any time. If Leonard winds up on the regular-season PUP list, he'd have to miss at least 4 games. To date, we haven't seen that reported as a possibility. The Colts also placed S Rodney McLeod (undisclosed) and DE Tyquan Lewis (knee) on the PUP ahead of camp starting.
The Colts are signing CB Stephon Gilmore to a 2-year deal, according to multiple reports. The move lands Indy's defense the top remaining corner on the market and a guy capable of performing as 1 of the top cover men in the league. Gilmore hasn't been much of an IDP factor throughout his career, though, and shouldn't be counted on for worthwhile fantasy numbers in his new spot.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner is active for today's game against the Jaguars. He arrived questionable and is likely well short of 100% after missing the entire week of practice with a nagging knee injury. He'll be risky but also carry upside as an IDP option.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Buckner missed practice all week with a nagging knee issue and seems like a legitimate game-day decision.
The Colts have activated LB Darius Leonard and S Khari Willis off the COVID list, leaving them eligible to face the Raiders on Sunday.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Colts LB Darius Leonard tested positive for COVID and is unvaccinated. That means he'll not only miss tonight's game against the Cardinals, but also Week 17. That makes Leonard droppable in most redraft IDP leagues. E.J. Speed sits behind him on the depth chart. We'd try to find a sturdier fantasy option for the final 2 weeks of the fantasy season, though.
The Colts have placed LB Darius Leonard and S Khari Willis on the COVID list, knocking them out for tonight's game against the Cardinals. Those are significant losses for the Colts D -- especially Leonard -- but perhaps even more so for IDP lineups.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner is active for today's game against the Texans. He was questionable, primarily for a knee injury, but finished the week with a full practice. Buckner belongs in IDP lineups in most cases. Questionable S Andrew Sendejo (calf) is also active.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner is questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. He's dealing with knee and foot issues, though the knee seemed more significant to begin the week. He close out the week with full Friday participation after a return to limited action Thursday, though. Buckner seems on track to play and should be in IDP lineups if active (barring some announcement of a limited role). S Andrew Sendejo (calf) is also questionable after following the same practice progression as Buckner through the week.
Colts DT DeForest Buckner came away from Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers with a knee injury that has his status iffy for Week 13. “I don’t know if we’re going to see him at the beginning of the week,” HC Frank Reich said Monday, according to the Indianapolis Star, referring to the start of the practice week. “We’ll hopefully see him at the end of the week, but we’re going to have to take it day by day. There’s no guarantee on him.” Losing Buckner would be a significant absence for the Colts D and IDP lineups, but a matchup with Houston would soften the blow for Indy.
Colts LB Darius Leonard (ankle) is active for today's game against the Buccaneers. He entered the day questionable but appears to be operating at a similar level to wear he's been. The ankle has been a season-long issue.
Colts LB Darius Leonard (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He practiced every day this week, including a full workout Friday. So we'd bet on Leonard playing, especially after he played through a questionable tag last week after less practice participation. It also seems pretty clear that he's operating at less than 100%, though.
Colts LB Darius Leonard (hand, ankle) is active for today's game against the Bills. Use him as you normally would in IDP lineups.
