Michael Carter Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Jets have placed RB Michael Carter on IR. He sprained an ankle last week and has been expected to miss at least 2 games. This designation means Carter will miss at least 3 contests. He can now return for the Week 15 rematch with Miami at the earliest.

Jets RB Michael Carter (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Texans. The rookie is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his high-ankle sprain. His absence leaves New York’s backfield to Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman. We’re expecting carries to be split fairly evenly, but Johnson should dominate passing-game work.

Jets RB Michael Carter is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a "low-grade" high-ankle sprain, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. So the rookie figures to miss Week 12 vs. the Texans and Week 13 vs. the Eagles. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 14 vs. the Saints. Carter is worth stashing on fantasy benches for the stretch run. His absence leaves Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman as New York's top 2 RBs. Carries could be split fairly evenly between them, but Johnson should dominate pass-catching work and is the superior fantasy play.

Jets RB Michael Carter injured his ankle in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Dolphins. He's officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.

Update: Carter has been downgraded to out.

Jets RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Bills. He was a full participant in Friday's practice and is expected to play. Coleman isn't a fantasy option but could steal a few carries from RB Michael Carter.

Jets QB Mike White will start Sunday's game against the Bills, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Zach Wilson will use the week to get healthier," Rapoport adds. White was playing well again before injuring his forearm in last Thursday night's game vs. the Colts, completing 7 of 11 passes for 95 yards and a score. He's just a low-end QB2 vs. a tough Buffalo defense. But White has targeted RBs on about 40% of his passes, so this is good news for RB Michael Carter.

Jets RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Colts. That'll again leave the backfield to RBs Michael Carter and Ty Johnson.

Jets RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. That'll again leave the backfield to RBs Michael Carter and Ty Johnson. With Coleman out last week, Carter handled 11 carries and 9 targets; Johnson 5 carries and 7 targets. Carter is a volume-based RB3 or flex play in Week 8.

Jets RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game against the Patriots. He leaves a handful of touches behind for RBs Michael Carter and Ty Johnson.

Jets RB Tevin Coleman is out for Sunday's game against the Broncos with a non-COVID illness. He played just 10% of the snaps and handled 5 carries and 0 targets last week, so his absence leaves behind just a little more work for RBs Michael Carter and Ty Johnson.

Jets RB Michael Carter is listed 4th (alongside Josh Adams) on the Week 1 depth chart. It's Tevin Coleman 1st, La'Mical Perine 2nd and Ty Johnson 3rd. We never fully buy into these depth charts -- but it's notable after Carter appeared to at least be behind Coleman this preseason. The rookie can't be trusted in Week 1 fantasy lineups. If you need to dabble in this backfield, Coleman is your best bet.

The Jets rested starters Friday night in their preseason finale vs. Philadelphia. That meant no action for RB Tevin Coleman. Michael Carter and Ty Johnson played, however, and Johnson took the field 1st. Carter did mix in for the 1st drive but saw just 1 carry vs. 5 for Johnson. The work evened out between them by halftime: 8 carries, 1 target for Johnson; 7 carries, 1 target for Carter. The rookie then sat out the 2nd half, while Johnson remained heavily involved. That last point could be a positive for Carter. But he's clearly opening the year at least behind Coleman. Keep that in mind as you decide where to draft any Jets RBs over the next couple of weeks.

Jets beat writer Connor Hughes of The Athletic sees the team’s backfield as a “3-man rotation.” “Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson and Michael Carter will all see their share of snaps in the regular season,” Hughes writes, “with La’Mical Perine working in as the goal-line, short-yardage back.” It’s tough to buy Perine as a factor, but a Jets RB rotation has largely been the theme all summer. Look for the situation to remain fluid throughout the year.

Jets RB Michael Carter played 0 snaps with QB Zach Wilson and the 1st-team offense in Saturday's preseason game vs. the Packers. RB Tevin Coleman got the start and played 10 of 19 snaps with Wilson. RB Ty Johnson played the other 9. We'll see if Carter gets any run with the starters in the final exhibition. But as of now, he's not looking like a guy we'll be able to use in fantasy lineups to start the season.
