Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Eagles. He got in full practices on Wednesday and Friday, sitting out on Thursday. Godwin is in line to make his 2025 debut in this one, but we expect him to be on a snap count. Try not to use Godwin in Week 4 fantasy lineups. WR Mike Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out, as expected.
NFL Network and ESPN report that Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his hamstring injury. "The injury is not considered as bad as last year’s and Evans plans to work to get back as soon as possible, possibly beating the timeline," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote. Fantasy owners should expect to be without Evans for at least the next two weeks against the Eagles and Seahawks. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 6's meeting with the 49ers. Tampa Bay's bye isn't until Week 9. Evans is worth hanging on to in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of Sunday's game vs. the Jets and will not return. Evans has a long history of hamstring trouble: Seven different documented injuries, including one last year that cost him three games. We'll see how much time this latest injury costs him.
Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) has a "strong chance" to make his 2025 debut against the Eagles in Week 4, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That'd be a little ahead of the "Week 5 or later" timeline we'd most recently heard for Godwin. He's been practicing on a limited basis for the last two weeks. Schefter also says there's a " strong chance" LT Tristan Wirfs makes it back for Week 4. That'd be as big a boost to this offense as Godwin's return (maybe bigger).
Bucs WR Emeka Egbuka didn’t look like a rookie in a Week 1 win over the Falcons. The Round 1 pick went off for 4 catches, 67 yards, and 2 TDs on an 18.7% target share.
Bucs’ GM Jason Licht expects Tampa Bay WR Chris Godwin to return around Week 5 or later, according to Greg Auman of Fox Sports.
The Buccaneers won't be placing LT Tristan Wirfs on IR, HC Todd Bowles said Sunday. That was mentioned as a possibility when Wirfs underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early July -- and would have knocked him out for the first four games. Bowles added that Wirfs won't be ready for Week 1, but the team clearly expects him back before Week 5.
Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan is expected to miss the start of the season after suffering a "severely strained neck" in the second preseason game, according to HC Todd Bowles. Bowles added that the injury "shouldn't be" career threatening. We'll look for a more concrete timeline for McMillan's return.
Update: McMillan will be placed on IR and "could be out past the Bucs Week 9 bye week," according to The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud.
Buccaneers LT Tristan Wirfs had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday, The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud reports. Stroud adds that Wirfs "will likely miss at least the first couple games of the regular season." ESPN's Adam Schefter calls Wirfs a candidate for the PUP list, which would cost him at least the first four games of the season.
The Buccaneers promoted Josh Grizzard to OC, replacing Liam Coen. Grizzard was the team's passing game coordinator last year. He spent the previous seven seasons with the Dolphins, moving from offensive quality control to WRs coach. Grizzard has no play-calling experience at any level, but the Bucs are prioritizing continuity after the big 2024 season under Coen. "Josh is bright and innovative and was instrumental in our game planning and play design over the last year," HC Todd Bowles said. "After interviewing several outstanding candidates throughout this process, it ultimately became clear that our best option was here in our building." Grizzard will be Tampa Bay's fourth different OC in the last four years -- and QB Baker Mayfield's ninth different play caller as a pro.
There's a 70% chance of rain throughout today's Panthers-Buccaneers game. Winds are only expected to come in around 10 mph, though, so weather shouldn't have a big impact on this one. We're not adjusting projections for Carolina or Tampa Bay players.
Buccaneers TE Cade Otton (knee) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. That should mean lead duties again for TE Payne Durham. He surprisingly ran a route on 88% of Bucs pass plays last week, catching five of seven targets for 29 yards. He'd be a desperation play in season-long lineups but is a viable salary-saver in DFS. Otton's absence could also push more targets to WRs Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan and RBs Bucky Irving and Rachaad White.
Buccaneers TE Cade Otton (knee) is listed as doubtful for Sunday night’s game vs. the Cowboys. HC Todd Bowles called him a game-time decision on Friday morning, but he’s evidently unlikely to play. The other TEs on Tampa Bay’s roster are Payne Durham, Ko Kieft, and Devin Culp. None is a viable fantasy play. Otton’s absence should push more targets to the WRs and RBs.
Update: The Buccaneers downgraded Otton to out.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) is not listed on the final Week 15 injury report. He only got in a limited practice on Friday but is evidently in no danger of missing this weekend’s game vs. the Chargers. We’ll keep an eye out for any additional reports on Evans’ hamstring, but he can stay in fantasy lineups for now.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. He missed the first two practices last week before playing his usual role in the win over the Raiders. Evans should be fine for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers, but we'll keep an eye on him over the next few days.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring, calf) is not listed on the final Week 14 injury report. He only got in a limited practice on Friday but is evidently in no danger of missing Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. We’ll keep an eye out for any further updates on Evans’ status. But, as of now, consider him a WR1 in fantasy lineups.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring, calf) missed his second straight practice on Thursday. We don't have any additional info on these injuries, but Evans' status for this weekend's game vs. the Raiders is seemingly up in the air. We'll see if he practices on Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring, calf) did not practice on Wednesday. It could be an early-week rest day. But Evans was a full participant all three days last week -- and had a calf added to this week's injury report. Check back tomorrow for another update on his status for Sunday's game vs. the Raiders.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans caught eight of 12 targets for 118 yards and a TD. Though QB Baker Mayfield left briefly with an ankle issue, he was able to return and continue to feed Evans the ball.
Buccaneers WR Mike Evans returned from his hamstring injury but only caught five of six targets for 68 yards. The Bucs did most of their damage on the ground in this game, so expect better numbers moving forward.
