Anthony Richardson has made progress significantly on the mental side including communication, checking at the line, and more. After only playing in four games as a rookie, Richardson's improvement could pay dividends if it leads to improvement as a passer and for the Colts offense as a whole.
Albert Breer: "Anthony Richardson’s progress has been pretty significant on the mental side—which is what you’d hope for, given the steep learning curve he faced coming from Florida last year. In particular, the coaches have looked for him to make strides in communication and command at the line, and they’ve been creative in drilling that home by having longer walkthroughs in the early evenings with lots of snaps baked in. It’s accelerated where Richardson is in his development, for sure, and one area where it’s really showing in his ability to make checks at the line."
One of the knocks on Richardson coming out was the mental side of the QB position due to his lack of experience. Only playing in four games last season, Richardson was not able to squelch those concerns.
Reports about him improving on the mental side, specifically checking at the line and reading defenses is very positive for his fantasy potential this year.
Richardson had two top-five QB finishes in the four game she played last season, so if the rushing continues and the mental side improves, he holds QB1 overall upside.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
