Bucs WR Chris Godwin is “finally looking like his old self,” per ESPN’s Jenna Laine. Here’s HC Todd Bowles: "Chris looks good, he's lean. ... I think he's finally healthy." Recall that Godwin suffered an ACL tear in December of 2021.
What They're Saying
Here’s what the 28-year-old said at training camp.
"I think that any time you're coming off the injury that I did, it takes a few years to kind of get back," Godwin said. "I've always been the type of person [where] I'm never really focused on dwelling on the past. ... The first year off the injury, I was doing pretty good, but I could tell something was a little bit missing.
"Last year was a little bit better, so this year, I'm looking to step back up again. I think only time will really tell how things play out, but I'm feeling pretty good about this year. Honestly, I'm just eager for the opportunity."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Godwin enters the final year of a three-year extension.
His situation changed a bit from 2023. Mike Evans returns, but OC Dave Canales was replaced by former Rams assistant Liam Coen.
Godwin is widely expected to play a primary slot role, one that he excelled in down the stretch last season.
Tampa Bay added a real-life WR3 candidate – at least for 2024 – in Round 3 pick Jalen McMillan. But he shouldn’t be a roadblock to Godwin easily topping 100 targets for the fourth straight season.
He hits our fantasy WR rankings in high-end WR3 range.
