Vikings WR Justin Jefferson had four receptions for 59 yards and a 3 yard TD in the second quarter. He was the primary target for Sam Darnold, especially with teammate Jordan Addison leaving the game with an ankle injury.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Justin Jefferson looked sharp against the Giants secondary often getting open with ease, drawing six targets in the game.
Even with Sam Darnold at QB, Jefferson continues to find ways to make it easy on his QB by getting open in HC Kevin O'Connell's offense and being a nice safety blanket when things break down.
Unfortunately for his fantasy stat line, the Vikings jumped to a big lead early in the game and did not need to continue throwing the football in the second half, leading to less targets than Jefferson would earn against a weak secondary like New York.
Next week, Jefferson draw the San Francisco 49ers, a team that did struggle against pass catchers last season. Jefferson is match-up proof, but it could be a more pass heavy script against one of the best teams in the league. If the 49ers get a lead on the Vikings next week, expect heavy targeting of Jefferson for an even better fantasy game potentially.
