Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson mustered just 23 scoreless yards in Thursday night's loss to the Jets. He averaged 3.8 yards per carry on his six attempts and was not targeted. Stevenson appeared to suffer a finger injury midway through the second quarter and missed the rest of that possession. But he returned and played the entire second half. His bigger problem was that New England ran just 48 plays and was playing from behind throughout.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Stevenson opened the season with a couple of ceiling performances: RB5 and RB10 finishes in PPR points.
Week 3 gave us a floor outing. The Patriots offense looked inept against a strong Jets defense, managing just 11 first downs and holding the ball for just under 20 minutes. Tough for any RB to produce in those conditions.
We recommended selling Stevenson in both of the season's first two trade articles. If you didn't move him before this Thursday nighter, you missed the trade window for now.
Stevenson should continue to control Patriots backfield touches and will be a fantasy asset in competitive games. How often this team will be competitive is the question. They're in San Francisco in Week 4 before hosting the Dolphins in Week 5. That latter game could stay close without QB Tua Tagovailoa. Then come tougher spots vs. Houston, at Jacksonville, and vs. the Jets.
Stevenson figures to land in low-end RB2/high-end RB3 territory moving forward. And, next time he has a solid outing, see if you can trade him. The weekly floor will remain low.
