Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Tuesday that WR Rashee Rice is "on track" to be ready for training camp. Rice is working back from last September's season-ending LCL and hamstring injuries. He had surgery in early October. "He’s working his tail off right now, I know," Reid added.
Rice avoided damage to the ACL and meniscus in his right knee, so he always seemed likely to be ready for the start of the 2025 season.
A potential suspension still looms, though, for Rice's involvement in a street-racing crash in March of 2024. He's facing multiple civil suits and criminal charges, but it's still unclear when Rice's trial will take place. The league, as usual, seems to be waiting for the legal process to play out before considering a suspension.
It all leaves Rice's 2025 fantasy value murky at this point.
But the upside is obvious. Rice averaged 6.9 catches, 78.0 yards, and 0.4 TDs over the final 10 games of his rookie season and then averaged 8.0 catches, 96.0 yards, and 0.7 TDs in three full games last year. WRs Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown add target competition in 2025, but Rice still boasts a top-12 fantasy ceiling.
