Cedric Tillman Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman was on the field but did not practice today because of a thumb injury, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. The severity is unknown. This comes just one day after Joe Flacco was named the starting QB for the Browns.

The Browns have named QB Joe Flacco their starter to open the season. He beat out Kenny Pickett for the job, while rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders were never serious threats. Flacco’s presence should be a boost for the Browns’ WRs and TEs compared with the alternatives.

Browns TE Harold Fannin was held out of Saturday's preseason game, alongside QB Joe Flacco, WR Jerry Jeudy, TE David Njoku and a bunch of other presumed starters. "All are primed for starting or significant roles," ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi tweeted.

There's a lot of change in the Cleveland offense this year. That's especially true in the backfield and at QB, but the latter could also mean fluidity in the WR corps. We'll be tracking usage and buzz throughout the rest of summer and the preseason games, but Max Loeb of Cleveland podcast Honor the Land offered some interesting practice observations this week.

The Browns watched WR Cedric Tillman leave Friday's practice with a lower-leg injury but expect him to miss no time. HC Kevin Stefanski said Saturday morning that he expects Tillman to be back at practice, according to Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram, adding that the team "dodged a bullet."

Browns WR Cedric Tillman is “still viewed internally as an ascending player,” per The Athletic’s Zac Jackson. Tillman turned just 25 in April.

The Browns have agreed to a one-year deal with WR Diontae Johnson, according to multiple reports. Since the end of the 2023 season, Johnson has seen the Steelers trade him to Carolina, the Panthers trade him to the Ravens for minimal return, Baltimore waive him, Houston claim him only to release him shortly thereafter ... and then no team sign him until after the draft. Johnson averaged career lows 2.8 receptions and 31.3 yards per game across last year's three stops. He'll turn 29 in July.

The Browns and QB Joe Flacco agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal, his agent tells ESPN's Adam Schefter. Flacco can earn as much as $13 million with incentives. Flacco returns to Cleveland, where he won Comeback Player of the Year in 2023. He averaged 323 yards across five games that year, tossing 13 TDs vs. eight INTs in a pass-heavy attack. Flacco made six starts with seven total appearances for the Colts last season, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt with 12 TDs and seven INTs. He turned 40 in January.

The Browns promoted TE coach Tommy Rees to OC. The 32-year-old becomes the youngest OC in the league. Rees was Notre Dame's starting QB just 12 years ago. He quickly flamed out in the NFL before getting into coaching. He most recently served as Notre Dame's OC from 2020-2022 and Alabama's OC in 2023 before joining the Browns last year. According to NFL Network, HC Kevin Stefanski is expected to take back over as the play-caller after giving those duties to former OC Ken Dorsey last year. The biggest question in Cleveland, of course, is who will be under center in 2025. QB Deshaun Watson is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season after re-tearing his Achilles. QB Jameis Winston is a free agent. We've already heard QB Kirk Cousins connected to Cleveland after he spent two seasons under Stefanski in Minnesota. Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, meanwhile, notes that Rees coached QB Jalen Milroe at Alabama. Milroe is expected to be a first- or second-round pick in this spring's draft.

The Browns are placing WR Cedric Tillman on IR for his concussion. Tillman suffered the injury back in Week 12. He actually returned to practice ahead of the Week 15 game against Kansas City but has never returned to game action. The IR placement makes it a six-game concussion absence -- a worrisome timeline for an injury that most commonly costs a player a single game. We'll see this offseason whether the concussion will impact Tillman beyond this season.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins. He’s now missed five games in concussion protocol. Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore will remain Cleveland’s top two WRs this weekend, but they’re shaky fantasy bets with QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman (concussion) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. He was limited in practice all week but still hasn't cleared protocol. Tillman's absence helps the target projections on WRs Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore, but they remain shaky fantasy plays with QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson taking over for QB Jameis Winston.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals. He remained limited in practice all week and still has work to do to clear protocol. We’ll keep you posted on Tillman’s status, but he’s not a recommended fantasy starter with QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson at the controls for Cleveland.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman (concussion) remained limited in practice on Wednesday. He was limited all three days last week before missing the Chiefs game. We'll see if Tillman can clear protocol in time for this weekend's game vs. the Bengals, but he'd be a shaky fantasy play with QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center.

Browns WR Jerry Jeudy caught 11 of his 14 targets for 108 yards in the Browns’ loss to the Chiefs today. With WR Cedric Tillman still out, along with TE David Njoku missing the game, Jeudy was again the target hog with a 43.75% target share.

Browns WR Cedric Tillman (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs. He returned to limited practices this week but still hasn't cleared protocol. Michael Woods will likely serve as the No. 3 WR for the third straight game, but he's totaled just four catches on eight targets over the last two weeks. Tillman's continued absence is good news for WRs Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore.
