Davis Mills Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Texans HC David Culley named QB Davis Mills his starter for the rest of the season. "He gives us the best chance to win," Culley said, suggesting that QB Tyrod Taylor's wrist injury didn't factor into this decision. Taylor has struggled lately -- but Mills managed just 6.6 yards per attempt with 6 TDs vs. 7 INTs in 6 starts earlier this season. WR Brandin Cooks at least averaged 8.2 targets, 6.2 catches and 62.5 yards in those Mills starts. Cooks remains the only Texan worth using in fantasy lineups.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Texans QB Tyrod Taylor "is believed to have suffered possible torn ligaments" in his left wrist. That's awkwardly worded, and Rapoport adds that Houston has yet to rule Taylor out for even Week 14. But the injury is at least a mark against a veteran who played so poorly in Sunday's shutout loss to the Colts that he got yanked for rookie Davis Mills. HC David Culley said Monday morning that no decision has been made on the Week 14 QB starter yet, but it's tough to see what Houston would gain by going back to Taylor. This decision, of course, carries minimal fantasy importance.

Update: Rapoport reports the team now considers Taylor "week-to-week" and expects to start Mills in Week 14.

Texans HC David Culley said after Sunday's loss to the Colts that QB Tyrod Taylor hyperextended his left wrist. Taylor was yanked in the 3rd quarter and never announced with an injury. We'll see if he's available for Week 14 -- and whether Houston goes back to Taylor or with rookie QB Davis Mills. Either way, it's a situation to avoid in fantasy lineups.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor was benched in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Colts. He went 5 of 13 for 45 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT before getting yanked. QB Davis Mills will finish this one out for the Texans. We'll see who gets the nod in Week 14, but it's obviously a situation to avoid in fantasy football.

The Texans have officially activated QB Tyrod Taylor from IR, so he's ready to start Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Taylor has been out with a hamstring injury since leaving the Week 2 loss to Cleveland.

Texans QB Davis Mills will get another start against the Rams on Sunday. QB Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) returned to practice this week but will miss at least 1 more game. "We just don't feel Tyrod is ready right now," HC David Culley said Friday. Taylor figures to return for Week 9.

The Texans placed QB Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) on IR. He'll miss at least the next 3 games -- although the Houston Chronicle reported yesterday that Taylor could miss 4. We're about to get an extended look at 3rd-round rookie QB Davis Mills.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor "could miss 4 weeks" with his hamstring injury, according to the Houston Chronicle. It's the 1st timetable we've seen. It's an unfortunate break for Taylor, who was playing really good ball before going down. QB Davis Mills didn't look ready in relief this past Sunday, completing just 8 of 18 passes for 102 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Now he has a short week to prepare for his 1st start against the Panthers on Thursday night.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) won't play against the Panthers on Thursday night, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Taylor is getting an MRI on that hamstring on Monday but won't be ready on the short turnaround. That puts QB Davis Mills in line to make his 1st start. The rookie went 8-of-18 for 102 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in today's loss to the Browns.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor hurt his hamstring early in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Browns and was quickly ruled out for the day. Rookie QB Davis Mills will take over for Houston.

Texans QB Deshaun Watson returned to practice Monday morning. He had opened camp working out with the team but then sat out the next 5 days with what the team reported was a foot injury. This comes a few days after FOX's Jay Glazer reported that Houston isn't returning calls from potential trade partners. That paired with Watson's return to the field just might indicate that no deal is imminent. Of course, there are a lot of unknowns in play here, and the Texans aren't giving anything away. Watson remains a risk/reward pick in the later rounds of all draft formats for now.
