Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
The Steelers have downgraded OLB T.J. Watt to out for Sunday's game against the Bengals. That leaves the team without 2 of its top 3 edge players, as Alex Highsmith had already been ruled out. Melvin Ingram hits Sunday as a sneaky IDP option for sack-friendly leagues. He does come with a low fantasy-scoring floor, however.
Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. The groin injury that knocked Watt out last week kept him limited in practice throughout this week. We’d bet he’ll play but will have to check his status Sunday morning. Fellow Steelers EDGE Alex Highsmith has been ruled out with his own groin injury. The whole situation elevates Melvin Ingram as an IDP option
Steelers ILB Devin Bush returned to full practice participation Wednesday. That's a particularly noteworthy turnaround after he missed Week 2 with a groin injury. Bush appears on track to return Sunday against the Bengals. OLB T.J. Watt also put in a limited practice just 3 days after leaving the loss to the Raiders with a groin injury. We'll track Watt throughout the week. OLB Alex Highsmith missed practice with his own groin injury but is merely a low-level IDP option at this point. CB Joe Haden (groin) practiced on a limited basis after missing Week 2.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Steelers OLB T.J. Watt "has a chance" to play Sunday against the Bengals. Watt left Week 2 early with a groin injury. Even if he's not able to make it back for the next game, this report indicates the injury isn't too serious.
Steelers OLB T.J. Watt left in the 1st half of Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a groin injury. He’s questionable to return.
Steelers LB Devin Bush (groin) is inactive for today's game against the Raiders. His absence boosts the tackle upside for LB Joe Schobert. CB Joe Haden (groin) is also inactive, leaving Pittsburgh without it's lead cover man.
Steelers LB Devin Bush popped up on the Friday injury report with a groin issue that limited his participation and rendered him questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders. We'll check Bush's status Sunday morning, but the injury could make him a risky IDP starter even if he's active.
Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith (groin) is active for today's game against the Bills. He's not a high-ceiling IDP option but is available for deeper leagues.
The Steelers and EDGE T.J. Watt have agreed to a 4-year extension that will reportedly pay him $112 million. That includes $80 million in guarantees. It's a record annual average for a defensive player. Most importantly for IDP players, it takes away the only question we had about Watt heading into the season. he spent all of camp doing only position drills and then sitting out the team portion while seeking the new contract. Watt has been a full practice participant this week, though.
Steelers OLB T.J. Watt remained a limited practice participant Monday, just as he was throughout training camp, ESPN's Brooke Pryor reports. Watt took part in individual workouts but worked off to the side during team drills. He has practiced in that fashion all summer as he waits for an extension on the final year of his rookie deal. Neither the team nor Watt has said much about the situation. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler -- a Pittsburgher and former Steelers beat reporter -- believes "Week 1 feels in doubt" if Watt doesn't get a new deal. "Watt stays in excellent shape but Steelers value practice-in-order-to-play with pretty much all players," Fowler tweeted Monday. We'd have a tough time believing Pittsburgh would deactivate Watt if he's willing to play Sunday. But it's a situation we'll have to watch for IDP lineups -- as well as the upside of the Steelers' team defense.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers are considering placing DE Stephon Tuitt on IR to open the season. Tuitt missed all of training camp and preseason while dealing with a knee issue. That followed an offseason of missed workouts following a family tragedy. It all combines to create a lot of uncertainty surrounding Tuitt's 2021 campaign. The veteran lineman is coming off his best pro season, so he remains an intriguing stash for IDP leagues. But we have knocked him down our DL rankings.
The forecast for today's Steelers-Browns game calls for a 30% chance of snow with winds of 27-29 mph and gusts up to 40. That wind is a significant concern. We'd avoid both kickers and downgrade the passing games, especially the guys who rely on downfield stuff. Bang it here for updated projections for the Steelers and Browns.
