Best Week 10 Moves From Our Experts: Grab Justin Jefferson NOW!
Best Week 10 Moves
Whether you're playing redraft or dynasty, knowing what moves to make is crucial to success.
That's why we're having each of our fantasy football experts give you one move to take advantage of this week.
Go Get Justin Jefferson
The sentiment on Jefferson is not great right now. He’s been relatively underwhelming, with no weekly finishes better than WR8 and just two better than WR20.
The usage has remained strong, though. Jefferson’s 29.5% target share ranks seventh league-wide. And that’s climbed to 33.3% in QB J.J. McCarthy’s three games.
Jefferson has finished just WR20, WR38, and WR19 with McCarthy, though, largely because Minnesota has averaged just 22.0 pass attempts in those games.
That number is bound to rise. No team is averaging fewer than 26 passes per game this season. Even last year’s super run-heavy Eagles averaged 26.4 per game.
The Vikings were actually slightly pass-leaning last week (+1% pass rate over expected). And McCarthy played well enough in the win over the Lions to have some faith in this passing game going forward.
Jefferson will also benefit from a cushy rest-of-season schedule. He still has games against the Bears, Commanders, and Cowboys’ bottom-six WR defenses. Overall, it’s the second-easiest remaining WR schedule.
See if you can pry him from his current owner for something less than a top-10 WR price.
Trade For George Kittle
Kittle may still not be fully recovered from the hamstring injury that cost him five games. He’s not getting downfield and creating yards after catch at nearly the rate we’re accustomed to.
But some of that can be attributed to QB Mac Jones, who has started 7 games in place of Brock Purdy. Jones’ yards per attempt (7.3) and yards per completion (10.9) trail Purdy (8.0, 12.2) in both categories.
Purdy has been limited in practice but is expected to return to the lineup soon. When he does, Kittle’s productivity should improve. Purdy targeted Kittle on 31% of his routes in Week 1, which is, by far, his highest TPRR rate of the season.
Kittle is also showing signs of getting healthier. Kittle’s target share has grown in each of the last three games, and he’s had 4 receptions in back-to-back games after that Week 7 dud.
Several young TEs have emerged as viable fantasy option over the past month, which could mean Kittle is viewed as the current No. 2 TE on many fantasy rosters. That presents a strong buy-low opportunity.
Additionally, the 49ers play fifth-easiest strength of schedule for TEs for the remainder of the season. Seems like a good time to see if you can get Kittle for a discounted price.
Bench Jaylen Warren
Warren scored his first two TDs of the season last week against the Colts, but was incredibly inefficient. I highlighted why he only mustered 1.9 yards per carry last week in my film review.
But the main reason to bench Warren this week against the Chargers is scheme related. OC Arthur Smith leans heavily on the inside zone run with the Steelers having the third hightest inside zone rushing rate this season. The Chargers are excellent at defending the inside zone allowing only 3.9 yard per carry, 5th least in the league.
Expect another weak rushing performance for Warren. His only saving grace may be through the air, but Warren has only 2 catches in four of his seven games this year, so it is a risky bet.
