Fantasy managers knew that drafting Rashee Rice this season came with the guarantee of not being able to use him for the first six weeks. The suspension that Rice served meant that anyone who drafted Rice would have a zero in those six games, plus another in Kansas City's bye. That's half the fantasy regular season with a guarantee of no points. But fantasy managers with risk/reward tolerance also knew that Rice was an elite talent with league-winning upside....we just didn't now how good Rice was going to play.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Rice showcased that league-winning upside on Thanksgiving. The sophomore WR caught 8-of-12 targets for 92 yards and 2 TDs in Kansas City's 31-28 loss.
After his season-best 29.4-point outing, Rice is now the overall WR2 in PPR points per game. He's averaging 21.4 PPR points in his six games, which trails only Jaxon Smith-Njigba (23.4).
Rice has scored 18.6-plus PPR points in five of his six games.
His 17-game pace shows just how elite he's been:
• 167.1 targets
• 119 receptions
• 1,377 yards
• 14.2 TD
Fantasy managers who invested a mid-round pick on Rice are now reaping the reward. But now the question is, has Rice now entered first-round territory in next year's drafts?
Jaxson Smith-Njigba, Ja'Marr Chase, Drake London, and Puka Nacua will undoubtedly be considered top-5 WRs, but Rice has outscored four of the five.
It will be fascinating to see if Rice keeps his elite play up down the stretch. At 6-6, the Chiefs are in desperation mode and have a tough Week 14 matchup against Houston's No. 1-ranked defense.
Regardless of how the Chiefs end the 2025 regular season, it will be a lot more expensive to build fantasy lineups around Patrick Mahomes and Rashee Rice next summer.
