Top Fantasy QBs for Week 14

New York Jets at Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins

Tua’s hit 26 fantasy points in three straight. Now he gets a volatile Jets defense that might be without CB Sauce Gardner (hamstring).

Aaron Rodgers, Jets

The Jets recently placed OT Tyron Smith on IR. They’re also dealing with injuries to OL Morgan Moses (knee/shoulder) and Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle). Add in Rodgers’ declining play on tape, and the veteran will remain a shaky QB2 vs. Miami.

Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings

Sam Darnold, Vikings

Darnold is back up to three straight QB1 games and is a solid bet as a low-end QB1 once again. The Falcons defense is one of the worst in the league at pressuring the QB, and Darnold should have a ton of success without pressure. Lock him in as a QB1 option.

New Orleans Saints at New York Giants

Derek Carr, Saints

Carr hasn’t lived up to his early season numbers, especially with the lack of receiving options. He also enters the weekend without Taysom Hill (ACL). Carr is a QB2 this week.

Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts, Eagles

The only question facing Hurts this weekend will be whether he gets to do enough to leverage his immense scoring upside. Philly has attempted 22 passes or fewer in three of the past four games, and Hurts has stopped short of 200 yards passing each of the past two weeks. But he has also found the end zone rushing six of the past seven weeks and fallen short of 21 fantasy points just four times all season (depending on your scoring format). Each of those games found at least one among A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith missing. Both should be ready for this one.

Bryce Young, Panthers

Young’s play has improved significantly since his return to the lineup, including three straight games without an INT. But he has also thrown more than 1 TD pass in a game just once all year. And Philly hits the weekend as the fifth-toughest QB defense by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

Russell Wilson, Steelers

Wilson delivered his third top-9 fantasy finish among six appearances last week against the Bengals. He didn’t fare quite as well (QB15) in the first Cleveland meeting the week before. But that came in a snowy, road, night game. And Wilson still completed a season best 75% of his passes at 9.6 yards per attempt. He’s a nice “floor” play in this range. There will be a higher ceiling if the Browns can put up points and force Pittsburgh to pass more.

Jameis Winston, Browns

Winston’s five starts have found him finishing among the top 9 three times and 18th or lower the other two. His QB18 week came in the first shot at Pittsburgh and included a season-low 219 yards with 0 TDs. That came on a snowy night, though, and included a David Njoku drop in the end zone. Winston has showed his extreme volatility, including 3+ turnover-worthy throws in three of five starts so far, according to Pro Football Focus. There’s tremendous upside if you’re looking for a streamer. But there’s also downside risk, especially against the defense that leads the league in takeaways.

Las Vegas Raiders at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers

Mayfield had one of his weakest outings last week, completing 21 of 33 passes with only one TD and two INTs. But he has been a consistent low-end QB1. Sunday, he draws a favorable matchup as big favorites. The Raiders are bottom five in passing fantasy points per game given up, so trust Mayfield as a top-five option. 

Aidan O'Connell, Raiders

Our own Shane Hallam dove into O’Connell’s Week 14 outlook vs. Tampa Bay. At bottom, he should see ample volume against a beatable Bucs pass D.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

Will Levis, Titans

Levis has an excellent matchup against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. He only has one QB1 scoring week this year, but has shown improvement in his accuracy and footwork. He has spike-week potential.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray, Cardinals

Murray hasn’t thrown more than 1 TD pass in a game since Week 8. He has exceeded that number just twice all year and finished four of 12 games with multiple total TDs. There’s some bad luck in that, but Murray also ranks just 20th in red-zone pass attempts and 21st in attempts from inside the 10, according to Pro Football Reference. He remains a solid QB13 in fantasy points per game thanks primarily to rushing. But the Cardinals have also increased their overall passing rate and red-zone passing rate in recent weeks. Murray attempted a season-high eight passes in the red zone last week. If that continues, he’s bound for at least a big game or two down the stretch.

Geno Smith, Seahawks

Smith reminded us of his upside with a QB4 finish on 3 TD passes against the Rams in Week 9. Even that contest also found Smith tossing 3 INTs, though. And it’s been surrounded by four fantasy finishes of QB19 or worse. That included a QB20 dud in his Week 12 meeting with the Cardinals, who have climbed to 12th in total defensive DVOA.

Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams

Josh Allen, Bills

Allen draws a Rams unit that’s just 22nd in pass defense DVOA. They’re first in pressure rate, though, so protection will be critical. We’ll also see if the Bills get back Dalton Kincaid and/or Keon Coleman from injuries.

Matthew Stafford, Rams

Stafford draws a Buffalo defense that’s surrendered only 216 passing yards per game. They’re an even tougher unit now that LB Matt Milano has returned from injury. Stafford, at least, has generated 2+ passing scores in five of his past six.

Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy, 49ers

Purdy had one of the worst performances of his career against the Bills completing only 11 passes for 94 yards. Without CMC or Jordan Mason, as well as LT Trent Williams still being out, it is tough to trust Purdy. The Bears have been top five in fewest passing points per game. But without the RBs, the 49ers may have to throw more, making Purdy a low-end QB1 this week.

Caleb Williams, Bears

Williams started cold on Thanksgiving but picked it up for a near comeback. Now his interim OC has become the interim HC. The short passing and screen game works, and Williams has been a high-end QB2 with Thomas Brown calling plays. The 49ers defense has been terrible against the Packers and Bills, so there is some spike hope. Still, Williams settles as a QB2.

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs

The Chiefs have passed at the league’s highest rate vs. expectation over the past four weeks, which now has them second in that category for the whole season. That adds both floor and ceiling value to Mahomes, who has tossed 2+ TD passes in four of his past six games. His lackluster outing in last week’s narrow victory over the Raiders was a bit worrisome, as is a Chargers D that ranks fifth in pass DVOA. But those Chargers allowed 3 total TDs to Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow within the past three games, plus a pair of TD passes to Will Levis in Week 10.

Justin Herbert, Chargers

The Chiefs’ defense heads into this matchup ranked eighth in rush DVOA vs. just 19th against the pass. That area has eroded since starting CB Jaylen Watson went down in Week 7. Herbert had topped 8.0 yards per pass attempt in five straight contests before dipping to 6.1 and 6.4 the past two weeks, with no TD passes in either game. He carries some risk into this game, especially if WR Ladd McConkey can’t go. But K.C.’s tough run defense and the Chargers’ lackluster run game will probably keep L.A. relying on Herbert.

Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys

Joe Burrow, Bengals

Burrow just earned Player of the Month honors, throwing for 1,035 yards and 12 TDs on massive volume. He’s in a good spot to stay hot with the Bengals implied for a big 27.5 points. Dallas, meanwhile, sits 21st in pass defense DVOA; 26th in PFF’s coverage grades.

Cooper Rush, Cowboys

Rush has just one top-15 fantasy finish since taking over for Dak Prescott. But Sunday sets up as a potentially explosive spot against Cincy’s disappointing defense. They’re bottom-six in the league in both points and passing yards allowed per game.
