Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (rib) is not expected to play vs. the Bucs today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweets that Kamara has a "chance" to play but adds that, "it'll be tough." We'll get New Orleans' inactives around 11:30 am ET, but fantasy owners should currently plan on not having Kamara. Schefter and Rapoport both report that RB Mark Ingram (ankle) is expected to play through his questionable tag. Ingram racked up 30 carries and 15 targets across 2 games without Kamara last year, finishing as the RB10 and RB13 in half-PPR points. But the ankle and negative matchup vs. Tampa Bay add risk to his Week 2 fantasy profile.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (rib) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Bucs. He was limited in Wednesday's practice but sidelined on Thursday and Friday. So Kamara looks truly iffy for this one. RBs Mark Ingram (ankle) and Dwayne Washington (hamstring) are also listed as questionable after limited weeks of practice. The Saints also have RB Tony Jones on the active roster and RB Latavius Murray on the practice squad. We'll get their inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (rib) went from a limited practice on Wednesday to no practice on Thursday. It's unclear if he suffered a setback or just got the day off. Friday's final injury report will give us a better idea of Kamara's status for this weekend's game vs. the Bucs.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (rib) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. He played through the issue last week and is on track to play vs. the Bucs this weekend.
Saints HC Dennis Allen said RB Alvin Kamara was dealing with a rib issue in Sunday's opener vs. the Falcons. That helps explain Kamara's disappointing usage and production in that one. "I think he’s going to be fine," Allen said. We'll need to keep an eye on Kamara this week, but it sounds like he has a chance to play vs. the Bucs on Sunday. RB Mark Ingram would be the beneficiary if Kamara is out or limited.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara posted just 39 yards on 9 carries in Sunday's win over the Falcons, plus a mere 7 yards on 3 receptions. New Orleans fell behind 16-7 and 26-10 in this contest, which likely didn't help the rushing volume. And the pass offense struggled for much of the game. New Orleans ran just 21 offensive plays in the 1st half vs. 36 for Atlanta. The Saints got better on that front after the break but were also playing catchup. It was a frustrating start for Kamara, but not particularly worrisome. He still beat Mark Ingram 9-4 in carries and 4-1 in targets. And although Taysom Hill stole the team's lone rushing TD, he garnered just 5 offensive opportunities.
We haven't heard much about Saints RB Alvin Kamara's camp performance, which is generally a good thing for an established veteran. But HC Dennis Allen assured us recently that Kamara looks as good as ever. "I think he's had as good a camp as I've seen, you know, since I've been here," Allen said. "I think he's in a good place mentally. I think he looks exceptionally explosive. He's in great shape. Great condition." There's still some suspension risk hanging over Kamara. But he remains a good bet for RB1 production when he's on the field this season.
The victim in the assault case against Saints RB Alvin Kamara and others is filing a civil lawsuit, with Tony Buzbee as his lawyer. Buzbee represented 24 women who filed suit against Browns QB Deshaun Watson. “The attack on Mr. Greene was unprovoked and extremely violent,” Buzbee says. “We call on the appropriate authorities to exact swift punishment against all parties involved in the attack. We also encourage the NFL to take immediate action. As appropriate, we will make Mr. Greene available to the authorities and the NFL, to the extent they wish to speak with him.” We'll see whether this development pushes the league into action. For now, though, we're not adjusting Kamara's fantasy football outlook.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Monday that it’s becoming “more and more unlikely” that Saints RB Alvin Kamara faces a 2022 suspension. A 2023 suspension wasn’t ruled out, but fantasy owners can breathe a bit easier for now. Kamara’s next court date is scheduled for late September.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara's court date for the battery charges against him has been rescheduled for September 29, ESPN's Katherine Terrell reports. That's 4 days after New Orleans' Week 3 game in Carolina and 3 days before the Week 4 game vs. the Vikings in London. We'll see what comes of that hearing and whether it spurs the NFL to take action.
There was a hearing on Monday for Saints RB Alvin Kamara's assault case. The result? "A 60-day status check," according to Las Vegas 8 News Now's David Charns. "No action today." So it'll be the end of September before we get another legal update on Kamara's situation. The NFL can still step in with a suspension at any point but tends to wait for the legal process to play out in cases like these. Translation: It's now more likely that Kamara is eligible for Week 1 and the entire season.
There's "no firm timeline" on a decision from the NFL on a suspension for Saints RB Alvin Kamara, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The situation "remains under league review and the NFL is monitoring all legal developments, including his Aug. 1 court date," Fowler adds. The league usually waits for the legal process to play out before making its own decision on a suspension. In this case, that might not be until 2023, leaving a chance that Kamara is eligible to play this entire season. We'll continue to keep you updated on the situation. We like the current risk/reward equation on Kamara at his 3rd-round price tag.
Pro Football Talk hears that Saints RB Alvin Kamara is "bracing for a suspension of at least six weeks." Kamara is facing felony battery charges for a fight he was allegedly involved in over Pro Bowl weekend in Vegas. His next hearing isn't scheduled until August, though, and it's unclear how long the legal process will take beyond that. The NFL usually waits for that process to play out before making its own ruling. So, even if Kamara is eventually suspended, it might not come this season. Until this situation is resolved, Kamara is a risk/reward fantasy pick. He's going in the late 2nd round of recent FFPC drafts.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara had been due for a hearing Monday in the battery case against him, but that has been pushed to Aug. 1. The decision came after lawyers for Kamara and other defendants said they needed more time to review evidence, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The delayed timeline for the case likely helps Kamara's chances of opening the regular season on time. The NFL is notoriously slow to react with discipline in criminal cases, and even this scheduled date is just for a hearing. The uncertainty with Kamara has pushed him at least well into Round 2 of early best-ball drafting, and often even into Round 3. He's a high-upside target in that range.
The Saints are sticking with OC Pete Carmichael, according to multiple reports. The team interviewed other candidates but ultimately decided for continuity with Carmichael, who's been with the team since Sean Payton arrived in 2006. Payton, of course, has been the mastermind of New Orleans' offense, so Carmichael has questions to answer.
Las Vegas police arrested Saints RB Alvin Kamara on Saturday, charging him with "battery resulting in substantial bodily harm." According to a police department release, the charges arose from a fight in Las Vegas night club. The investigation is reportedly ongoing, so we'll see how the situation develops and what it might mean for Kamara's status.
Saints RB Mark Ingram (knee) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Falcons. That should open up more work for RB Alvin Kamara.
