Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday. It's a downgrade after he put in 3 limited practices last week. Hopefully he didn't suffer a setback. We'll get another update on McCaffrey tomorrow, but at this point it seems more likely than not that he misses Sunday's game vs. the Vikings.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule said Wednesday that RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) is “probably 50-50” to play Sunday vs. Minnesota. CMC was limited in practice today. If he returns, it’ll end up being just a 2-game absence for the 25-year-old. Last week in his place, rookie Chuba Hubbard rushed 24 times for 101 yards, adding 5 catches on 6 targets. He’ll remain a plug-in RB2 if McCaffrey sits.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) is inactive for today’s vs. the Eagles. He put in 3 limited practices this week and seemingly has a good shot to return for Week 6. Chuba Hubbard gets another game as Carolina’s lead back but ceded pass-catching work to RB Rodney Smith last week.
The Panthers list RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. McCaffrey practiced all week and is clearly making good progress in his rehab. But Carolina is wisely playing it safe with the stud back. Chuba Hubbard will again operate as the Panthers' lead back this weekend, but he lost passing-down work to RB Rodney Smith last week. The role leaves Hubbard as a lower-end RB2.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) put in his 2nd straight limited practice on Thursday. He said afterward that he "feels great" and "definitely" has a chance to play vs. the Eagles this weekend. He's certainly trending in the right direction, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule said Thursday morning that he's "hopeful" RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) plays vs. the Eagles this weekend. McCaffrey got in a limited practice on Wednesday, looked good according to reporters in attendance and avoided a setback. We'll get another update on his practice participation this afternoon.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) returned to a limited practice on Wednesday. “Christian looked real good," HC Matt Rhule said afterward. "I don’t know what that means in terms of Sunday." Rhule went on to say that McCaffrey might be a game-time decision, per ESPN's David Newton. We'll get another CMC update tomorrow.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule said Monday that he expects RB Christian McCaffrey to return to practice Wednesday, according to Jonathan Alexander of the Charlotte Observer. That doesn't necessarily mean McCaffrey is on track to return for Week 5, but it would obviously be a big step in the right direction. We'll certainly be watching the Carolina star closely all week.
There's a "chance" Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) returns for Week 5, although it's "more likely" he's out until Week 6, according to ESPN's David Newton. McCaffrey went through a stretching routine prior to today's game vs. the Cowboys, per Newton. We'll see if McCaffrey is able to get on the practice field this coming week.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule said the team is "optimistic" RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) will miss 3 games, according to insider Joe Person. McCaffrey hasn't been placed on IR, so Carolina must think there's at least a chance he's back before Week 7. But it sounds like our expectation should be that he misses the next 3 games vs. the Cowboys, Eagles and Vikings. We'll get our 1st look at the McCaffrey-less backfield on Sunday. We're projecting RB Chuba Hubbard to produce RB2 numbers with RB1 upside.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule confirmed Monday that RB Christian McCaffrey won't be going to IR with his hamstring injury. That means the team believes there's at least a reasonable chance he's ready by Week 6. We'll keep you updated on his rehab progress.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) is expected to miss "a few weeks," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Carolina isn't planning to put McCaffrey on IR "as of now," Rapoport adds. Hopefully we get a more concrete timeline -- but if McCaffrey doesn't land on IR, that means the team expects him to miss no more than 2 weeks. It's looking like CMC avoided a serious injury.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is scheduled for testing on his injured hamstring on Friday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. So we should get an idea of how long CMC will be out later today. Per Rapoport, McCaffrey was quickly ruled out of last night's game because he "could not push off at all on that hamstring." McCaffrey owners should be bracing for a multi-game absence, but we'll pass along more info as soon as we have it. After McCaffrey exited the Texans game, RB Chuba Hubbard out-snapped RB Royce Freeman 38 to 11. Hubbard is the priority add on waiver wires, but Freeman is worth a stash in most leagues, too.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey suffered a hamstring injury in the 2nd quarter of Thursday night's game vs. the Texans and was quickly ruled out. That suggests a relatively serious injury. We'll update McCaffrey's status as soon as we learn more. RB Chuba Hubbard looks like the next man up for Carolina. RB Royce Freeman is also on the roster.
Panthers HC Matt Rhule said Friday he expects to activate RB Christian McCaffrey over the weekend and have him available for Sunday's game at Kansas City, according to multiple reports. That goes along with the general feeling during the week. Expect to get McCaffrey back into starting fantasy football lineups. That means Mike Davis should no longer be in there, but we'd try not to drop him if you can help it. Davis has proved his value as a handcuff, and McCaffrey has been out since Week 2 because of a high-ankle sprain.
ESPN's David Newton believes RB Mike Davis "might have the edge" for the Panthers' #2 RB job. His competition is Reggie Bonnafon and Jordan Scarlett. The battle is irrelevant as long as RB Christian McCaffrey is healthy, of course. We wouldn't bother spending a pick to "handcuff" CMC at this point.
