Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (knee) is not expected to play vs. the Eagles today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Parker was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, but this one still comes as a surprise His absence would leave JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kendrick Bourne as New England's top two WRs, with rookie Demario Douglas the likely No. 3. Smith-Schuster is the only viable Week 1 fantasy play.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (knee) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Eagles. We're expecting Parker to play, but hopefully you're not counting on him in Week 1 fantasy lineups.
Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton (shoulder) has been placed on IR. He'll miss at least the first four weeks of the season. The second-year receiver was sidelined during the spring with a soft-tissue injury and then hurt his shoulder in mid-August. He's not worth rostering in redraft. JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and Demario Douglas figure to open the season as New England's top four WRs.
Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton is a “candidate” for injured reserve, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Thornton hasn’t practiced since August 17, when he landed hard on his shoulder in a joint practice with Green Bay. Reiss didn't hint at a season-ending injury, but Thornton certainly comes with added risk. New England looks set to enter Week 1 with JuJu Smith-Schuster and DeVante Parker as the top-2 WRs.
The Athletic’s Chad Graff believes New England’s WRs corps “seems only marginally better than last year’s.” Graff calls DeVante Parker an “x-factor” but admits he’s “not sold yet” on Tyquan Thornton. He also questions the contract given to JuJu Smith-Schuster because of his injury history. Kendrick Bourne, meanwhile, isn’t considered a roster lock. (Yeah, it’s pretty clear why the Pats pursued DeAndre Hopkins.) We’ll monitor this unit come training camp. The chemistry between JuJu and Mac Jones is something to really focus on, as the 26-year-old missed most of the spring with a knee issue.
The Patriots have agreed to a three-year extension with WR DeVante Parker that could be worth up to $33 million, according to multiple reports. The new pact replaces what would have been the final year on the contract Parker brought with him from Miami. ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that the deal lowers his 2023 base salary but offers per-game roster bonuses that can double that number. The contract also includes incentives, among them achieving All-Pro status. We're not betting on Parker reaching that level and thus aren't counting on him attaining the contract's full value. But he's probably more central to New England's 2023 plans -- at least -- than Parker's end-of-draft ADP to date on FFPC indicates. He's a no-risk stash late in best ball drafts, especially when you've already cheaply added QB Mac Jones. See where Parker sits in our WR rankings.
Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Week 18 vs. the Bills after limited practice all week. Fellow WR DeVante Parker (concussion) logged full practice on Friday and has been removed from the final injury report. It seems as though we'll see Parker on the field on Sunday for the first time since Week 14 vs. the Cardinals. That said, Meyers is the player of the two who carries the most fantasy value. He's played through this shoulder injury for a few weeks now and we feel pretty confident that he'll suit up. The Bills' defense ranks as the 11th-best matchup for WRs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season, and Meyers carries a team-leading 27% target share over the last 2 weeks. Consider Meyers a solid WR2 in Week 18.
Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity again on Thursday. It's also worth noting that WR DeVante Parker (concussion) has now practiced limited on back-to-back days. This is certainly encouraging for Parker as he's been sidelined since Week 14. Friday's injury report will give us official designations for the pair of pass-catchers ahead of Week 18 vs. the Bills. Check back tomorrow for further analysis.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 17 vs. the Dolphins. Parker hasn't appeared in a game since Week 14 vs. the Cardinals. We're onto 2023 with the veteran wideout as far as fantasy football is concerned. WR Tyquan Thornton (knee) is listed as questionable after a limited week of practice.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not practice on Thursday. Parker has yet to appear in a game since Week 14 vs. the Cardinals. At this point, it's safe to assume the Patriots will be without the veteran again. We'll keep an eye on this situation just in case something changes.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. The veteran wideout has not appeared in a game since Week 14 vs. the Cardinals. There's still plenty of time this week for Parker to log practice participation, but working his way through NFL concussion protocol is the biggest hurdle in his way. We'll keep an eye on his activity in advance of Week 17 vs. the Dolphins.
Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Week 16 vs. the Bengals. WR DeVante Parker (concussion) has been ruled out. Meyers is in the WR3/flex conversation in a neutral matchup on Saturday. The Patriots don't throw the ball a ton, but Meyers is usually a decent bet on a weekly basis for a modest target total.
Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) was a limited participant at practice on Wednesday. Veteran WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not participate again for the 2nd consecutive day. It seems that Meyers is far likelier to play than Parker at this point. Tomorrow will tell us more about Meyers' availability for Week 16's matchup vs. the Bengals. Check back later.
Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (shoulder) logged limited participation in practice on Tuesday. Teammate DeVante Parker (concussion) did not practice at all. Week 16's game vs. the Bengals falling on a Saturday makes this situation a bit tougher. As such, we'll keep tabs on the Pats' injury report today regarding the health of this pass-catching duo.
Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Raiders. He went from a limited practice on Wednesday to no practice on Thursday to another limited practice on Friday. That’s a strange progression for a guy in the concussion protocol. Patriots-Raiders doesn’t kick off until 4:05 pm ET on Sunday, but we should get an update on Meyers by that morning. Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) has been ruled out, leaving Nelson Agholor, Tyquan Thornton and Kendrick Bourne as New England’s top 3 healthy WRs.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He's unlikely to play vs. the Raiders this weekend after being concussed on Monday night.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry snagged all 3 of his targets for 70 yards in Week 14. While his volume proved disappointing — especially with DeVante Parker exiting early with a concussion — the output turned out just fine in a plus matchup with Arizona. Next up for Henry is a neutral matchup with the Raiders.
Patriots WR DeVante Parker left in the 1st quarter of Monday night's game vs. the Cardinals for a concussion check. He appeared woozy on the field, so we doubt he's cleared to return to this one.
Update: Parker has been ruled out with a head injury.
