Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson left to get checked for a concussion after taking a hit to the head in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He's been replaced by QB P.J. Walker. We'll pass along an update on Thompson-Robinson when we know more.
Update: Thompson-Robinson has been ruled out with a concussion. That makes him unlikely to play in Week 13. We'll see if Cleveland starts QB P.J. Walker or QB Joe Flacco vs. the Rams.
Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start this weekend's game vs. the Broncos, HC Kevin Stefanski said Monday. Cleveland just added Joe Flacco to the QB room, but DTR will get at least one more start. The rookie did very little to win last week's game vs. the Steelers, completing 56% of his passes at 3.8 yards per attempt with 0 TDs. But he turned it over just once and took only one sack. Thompson-Robinson is a bottom-barrel QB2 for Week 12 and will continue to be a drain on Cleveland's WRs. (TE David Njoku tallied a 7-56-0 line on a whopping 15 targets vs. Pittsburgh.)
Multiple reports on Sunday evening indicate that the Browns are signing free agent QB Joe Flacco to their practice squad. The former Super Bowl XLVII MVP visited with Cleveland on Friday, and it's expected that he'll be elevated to the active roster shortly. This move adds much-needed positional depth in the aftermath of the announcement of starter Deshaun Watson's season-ending shoulder surgery. Fantasy managers in deeper 2QB/superflex leagues can consider throwing light FAAB or a speculative waiver claim on Flacco, though it would be wise to temper expectations. It's still entirely possible that the Browns will stick with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center, and they do still have backup P.J. Walker on the roster as well. Stay tuned for further updates.
Jets QB Mike White (ribs) is officially inactive for today’s game vs. the Dolphins. QB Joe Flacco gets the start; QB Zach Wilson is the backup.
The Jets have ruled QB Mike White out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. He went from a full Wednesday practice to limited Thursday and then this, so the rib injury clearly remains a significant issue. He played as though that was the case at Seattle in Week 17. QB Joe Flacco will start, with Zach Wilson backing up, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. A healthy Flacco instead of a hurting White is probably better for the fantasy outlook of WR Garrett Wilson and the rest of the Jets' pass-catchers. Check our Week 18 fantasy football rankings to see where everyone sits.
Jets QB Zach Wilson was benched in favor of QB Chris Streveler in the 3rd quarter of Thursday night's game vs. the Jaguars. Wilson completed just 9 of 18 passes for 92 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT against a bad Jacksonville defense (albeit in less-than-ideal conditions). We'd be surprised if Wilson found his way back onto the field again this season. We'll see if QB Mike White can get cleared for Week 17. If not, Streveler and QB Joe Flacco are options.
The Jets have announced that QB Mike White will start Sunday's game against the Bears. The 5th-year player got the 1st 3 starts of his career for last season's Jets, entering for most of a 4th before that stretch. He completed 66.7% of his throws, averaging 238.3 yards and 1.3 TDs per game over that span. The bulk of his production came in a 405-yard, 3-TD outing against the Bengals. White proved particularly friendly to RB target shares, with Michael Carter drawing 16% target share in the 4 White games. Of course, that remains a small sample and not a signal that you should dramatically increase your Week 12 expectation for Carter. We're also not sure White boosts the fantasy outlook for anyone else on the offense. But a change from Zach Wilson can't hurt. The team is planning to make Wilson a healthy scratch and use Joe Flacco as the backup.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Jets HC Robert Saleh informed his team this morning that QB Zach Wilson won't start Sunday's game against the Bears. Schefter did not mention who will start in Wilson's place. The Jets' website currently lists Mike White as the backup, Joe Flacco as the #3 QB -- and Flacco has recently been a healthy scratch on game days. Flacco, of course, started the 1st 3 games this season while Wilson was out and posted bigger passing numbers on huge volume. He also completed just 58.7% of his passes as the team opened 1-2. White got 3 starts last year and threw for 405 yards and 3 TDs in his 1st outing, but then endured 2 lackluster losses. There's not a good option here, but we're happy to see the Jets not simply sticking with the status quo.
Jets HC Robert Saleh would not commit to QB Zach Wilson as his Week 12 starter on Monday. “We’re keeping everything on the table," Saleh said. The Jets had been winning in spite of Wilson -- but that ended in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, when Wilson went 9 of 22 for 77 yards. He's completed just 55.6% of his passes this season, averaging 6.8 yards per attempt with 4 TDs and 5 INTs. Saleh wouldn't say whether he'd go with QB Joe Flacco or QB Mike White if Wilson is benched. None of those guys should be in your Week 12 fantasy plans, but Flacco or White would be at least a slight boost for New York's skill-position players.
Jets HC Robert Saleh announced Wednesday that QB Zach Wilson has been medically cleared from the meniscus tear and bone bruise he suffered in his knee in mid-August. Barring a setback this week, Wilson will start Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. He shouldn't be in fantasy lineups, but we'll see what he means for New York's skill-position guys. QB Joe Flacco currently leads the NFL with 155 pass attempts but completed just 59% of them and averaged an ugly 5.8 yards per attempt. Wilson is certainly capable of beating those numbers.
Jets QB Zach Wilson is expected to be cleared by doctors next week to return from the meniscus tear and bone bruise in his knee, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "That puts him in line to play against the Steelers in Week 4," Rapoport adds. We'll track Wilson's practice participation this week and then see how he fares after what was reportedly an up-and-down offseason.
Jets QB Zach Wilson (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bengals. He reportedly has a shot to return in Week 4. QB Joe Flacco gets another start this weekend.
Corey Davis led Jets wideouts in targets in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Davis tallied 9 in a game that found QB Joe Flacco spread 59 attempts around pretty evenly. Only rookie RB Breece Hall (10) beat Davis, while RB Michael Carter tied the veteran WR. Rookie WR Garrett Wilson drew 8 looks, with 7 going to WR Elijah Moore and 6 to WR Braxton Berrios. TE Tyler Conklin garnered 7 of 8 TE targets, with the other going to Lawrence Cager. Davis tied for 2nd among Jets with 6 receptions and led the team with 77 receiving yards. Only 1 other Jet reached 50 yards, and no one else exceeded 52.
The Jets will start QB Joe Flacco in Sunday's opener against the Ravens, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. QB Zach Wilson is reportedly "progressing well but not quite ready" in his return from the right-knee injury he suffered in the preseason opener. It's not a surprising announcement. We already had Flacco projected in our Week 1 fantasy football rankings. HC Robert Saleh says that Wilson isn't likely to be available before Week 4 at the earliest, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Jets HC Robert Salah said Monday it’s “possible” QB Zach Wilson will start Week 1. Wilson went through a workout today, and the team will see how his knee responds by Wednesday. Odds remain against Wilson suiting up for the opener vs. Baltimore, but this will be a storyline to track. Joe Flacco will draw the start if Wilson's not ready.
ESPN reports that Jets QB Zach Wilson is still likely to miss at least the regular-season opener. But Dianna Russini says the team feels "really good" about his chances of getting back onto the field soon, perhaps even ahead of Week 1. It's certainly possible that Wilson is technically cleared to play in the opener but the Jets opt for Joe Flacco and led the 2nd-year QB ease back in. We'll keep an eye on the situation. Don't expect it to alter our projections for other in the Jets' offense, though.
Jets QB Zach Wilson had successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Wilson had just a trim of the meniscus -- as hoped -- and has a shot to play Week 1. Wilson does also have the bone bruise in the knee, which will require rest to recover.
CBS' Josina Anderson reports that Jets QB Zach Wilson tore the meniscus in his right knee, in addition to the bone bruise. He'll reportedly get a "trim" and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. The longer end of that would obviously extend into the regular season. We'll see exactly when the Jets expect Wilson to return, but this is all much better than the initially feared ACL tear. If Wilson does miss regular-season games, Joe Flacco should be in line to start.
