Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Packers WR Romeo Doubs suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Lions, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Doubs is undergoing further testing to get a better idea of how long he'll be out, but Rapoport notes that these tend to be 4-6 week injuries. We're unlikely to see Doubs again until December, so he can be dropped in standard-sized fantasy leagues. Allen Lazard is locked in as Green Bay's #1 WR going forward.
Packers WR Romeo Doubs suffered an ankle injury on an 18-yard catch on the team's 1st offensive snap of Sunday's game in Detroit. He needed help to get off the field and was carted to the locker room. Doubs is officially questionable to return but seems highly unlikely to do so.
Update: Doubs has been ruled out.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Lions. He comes with elevated risk playing through that shoulder injury, but there’s plenty of upside against this bad Detroit secondary. Packers WR Christian Watson (concussion) is also active. He can’t be trusted in Week 9 fantasy lineups but does add some downside to WR Romeo Doubs. Watson appeared to be playing ahead of Doubs before exiting early last week.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers entered the 4th quarter with just 74 passing yards in Sunday night's loss to the Bills, but added 129 and a TD to his totals in that quarter alone. Green Bay went run-heavy through most of the game, falling behind by 17. Rodgers then led that 4th-quarter scoring drive that ended with a 37-yard TD to rookie WR Samari Toure. Rodgers found rookie WR Romeo Doubs for an impressive catch in the end zone earlier in the game. TE Robert Tonyan led the Packers with 5 catches, totaling 35 yards. Green Bay gets a much more favorable matchup at Detroit in Week 9.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (shoulder) is out for Sunday night’s game vs. the Bills. That takes away the top option in a struggling passing game. Romeo Doubs and Sammy Watkins, who was limited in practice all week with a hamstring but isn’t listed on the final injury report, figure to serve as QB Aaron Rodgers’ top 2 WRs. WR Christian Watson (hamstring) is listed as questionable after 3 limited practices.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (shoulder) conceded Thursday that he's unlikely to play vs. the Bills on Sunday night. Lazard told reporters that he heard "a snap, crackle and pop" in his shoulder near the end of the 3rd quarter of last week's game -- but that he doesn't expect to be out long. His absence this weekend figures to leave Sammy Watkins and Romeo Doubs as Green Bay's top 2 WRs. We'll see if WR Christian Watson can make it back from his hamstring injury.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers managed only 194 yards on 23-of-35 passing in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. He found RB Aaron Jones for the team's only 2 offensive TDs. WR Allen Lazard was the only other Packer to catch more than 3 passes, before leaving with a shoulder injury. TE Robert Tonyan contributed 3-32 receiving on 4 targets. WR Sammy Watkins returned from IR (hamstring) to catch 2 passes for 36 yards among 4 targets. Rookie Romeo Doubs went catchless on 4 targets. Doubs finished as the clear playing-time leader, with Lazard leaving early and the team missing WRs Randall Cobb and Christian Watson. No member of this pass offense looks attractive for a Week 8 visit to Buffalo.
Packers WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Commanders. He just returned to practice this week after going down in late September. Watkins isn’t a viable Week 7 fantasy play, but his return adds a bit of risk to WR Romeo Doubs profile.
The Packers have activated WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) from IR. They have listed him as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders. We certainly wouldn't use Watkins in fantasy football lineups. We'll see about his role -- once he plays -- and any impact on WRs Romeo Doubs and Allen Lazard. Green Bay also placed WR Randall Cobb (ankle) on IR. Cobb says he expects to return this season.
Packers WR Allen Lazard reached the end zone for the 4th time in 5 games in Sunday's loss to the Jets. Overall, he caught 4 of 9 targets for 76 yards and the score. It marked his 3rd straight game with at least 8 targets. Lazard and rookie Romeo Doubs also continued to easily lead the offense in routes. Doubs also saw 9 targets, catching 4 for just 21 yards.
Packers WR Randall Cobb drew a team-high 13 targets in Sunday's loss to the Giants, accounting for 33.3% of Aaron Rodgers' total attempts. He also led the team with 7 catches and 99 yards. WR Allen Lazard checked in next with 8 targets, catching 4 for 35 and a TD. TE Marcedes Lewis grabbed the only other TD on his lone catch of the game. Rookie WR Romeo Doubs tallied 3 receptions for 29 yards among 5 targets.
Packers WRs Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs worked as the clear top 2 wideouts in Sunday's OT win over the Patriots. They played 70 snaps apiece (of 73) and ran 36 and 35 routes, respectively, among 37 Aaron Rodgers dropbacks. Randall Cobb checked in next among WRs at just 25 snaps and 18 routes. Lazard and Doubs also drew a matching 8 targets. Lazard caught 6 balls for a game-high 116 yards. Doubs posted a 5-47-1 receiving line and nearly added another TD but lost the ball when he hit the ground. We'd bet that these 2 continue to lead the corps after Sammy Watkins returns from his hamstring injury.
Packers WR Romeo Doubs tallied 8 catches for 73 yards and 1 score in Week 3 at Tampa Bay. Fantasy owners were happy early, as the rookie notched 3-35-1 on Green Bay’s first drive alone. The score came on a goal line slant vs. off coverage. Overall, Doubs caught all of his targets and paced the team with a 22.8% target share against a strong Bucs secondary. Sunday’s outing did come with Christian Watson (hamstring) and Sammy Watkins (hamstring, IR) sidelined, but Doubs has earned a weekly role with his performance. Next up is a 3-game home stand vs. the Patriots, Giants and Jets.
Packers WRs Christian Watson (hamstring) and Randall Cobb (illness) are listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Bucs. Watson went from a limited practice on Wednesday to no practice on Thursday or Friday. Cobb didn't practice all week. We'll see if these guys are available come Sunday, but neither should be in fantasy lineups. HC Matt LaFleur said Friday that WR Romeo Doubs is "going to have to take more of a load this week."
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms that Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is not expected to play vs. the Vikings today. He's listed as doubtful after missing practice all week. Lazard's absence leaves Green Bay with WRs Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson. Pelissero also reports that LT David Bakhtiari (knee) and RT Elgton Jenkins (pectoral/knee) will miss today's opener. It's a tough spot for QB Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers list WR Allen Lazard (ankle) as doubtful for Sunday's opener vs. the Vikings. He didn't practice all week and is obviously unlikely to play. Lazard's absence will leave Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson as Green Bay's top 4 WRs. Check out where those guys sit in the Week 1 WR Rankings.
Packers WR Allen Lazard did not practice on Wednesday and is on the injury report with an ankle. He seems to be in real danger of missing this weekend's opener vs. the Vikings, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow. Lazard's absence would leave Romeo Doubs, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb as Green Bay's top 3 WRs.
Packers HC Matt LaFleur suggested Wednesday that there won't be a clear #1 in the WR corps this season. "I don't think anybody's clear cut in front of the other guy," LaFleur said. "I think it's gonna be very much the ball's gonna get spread around and we're gonna try to feature different guys in different spots." Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb all figure to get significant snaps early in the season. Lazard is the best fantasy bet for now, but don't treat him as more than a WR4.
The Packers had a "Family Night" practice for fans at Lambeau Field that included simulated intrasquad scrimmaging. SB Nation's Acme Packing Co. blog counted up the 1st-team snaps and found rookie Romeo Doubs on for 13, compared with 18 for Allen Lazard and 16 for Sammy Watkins. That lines up with reports out of camp, with Doubs ahead of Randall Cobb (6) and others. It's certainly worth noting that fellow rookie WR Christian Watson is not yet practicing. Doubs has been moving up our WR rankings.
