Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson (right shoulder) put in a full practice Friday. That’s good news for his status ahead of Monday night’s game. It’s tough to expect an uptick in his performance, though, which lagged ahead of the shoulder issue.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson (shoulder) got in a limited practice on Thursday -- 6 days removed from receiving an injection in his throwing shoulder. Wilson is expected to play vs. the Chargers on Monday night, but he'd be a shaky fantasy play.
Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett said Tuesday that QB Russell Wilson (shoulder) "should be ready to play” vs. the Chargers on Monday night. Wilson got an injection in his throwing shoulder on Friday to address a strained muscle. We'll keep an eye on his practice participation this week, but hopefully you don't need to use Wilson in Week 6 fantasy lineups.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right shoulder on Friday "in hopes of relieving discomfort," according to NFL Network. Wilson is reportedly dealing with a strained latissimus dorsi -- a similar injury to the one that sidelined Cowboys QB Dak Prescott for most of training camp last year. Per the report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the injury is not usually treated with an injection. Wilson plans on playing when the Broncos return to action next Monday night vs. the Chargers. We'll keep a close eye on him this coming week.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson has been removed from the injury report for Thursday night's game against the Colts. He said earlier in the week that his right-shoulder issue wouldn't inhibit his availability, and it appears Wilson will be a full go.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Broncos QB Russell Wilson is "dealing with a little bit of tendonitis in his throwing shoulder." Wilson has been limited in practice so far this week, ahead of Thursday night's game vs. the Colts. "Doesn't seem like this is a major issue," Rapoport adds. "I'd characterize it as just something to watch."
Broncos QB Russell Wilson showed some signs of life in Sunday's loss to Vegas, tossing 2 TDs and completing 17-of-25 passes for 237 yards. Obviously, the pass volume (and yardage) isn’t ideal. But the boosted efficiency is nice, and it’s encouraging to see him hitting top targets Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy for scores. Wilson was Pro Football Focus’ 23rd graded QB over the first 3 weeks but jumped up to 4th in Week 4. The loss of Javonte Williams (torn ACL) could push this unit more towards the pass going forward — especially if their run defense doesn’t improve. Wilson belongs in the QB1 conversation for a Thursday night home game vs. Indianapolis.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson completed just 14 of his 31 pass attempts for 219 yards in Sunday's win over the Texans. He threw a TD to TE Eric Saubert, but also an INT. Denver has scored just 33 points through 2 games, despite matchups with defenses that aren't likely to emerge as tough.
The Broncos and QB Russell Wilson agreed to a 5-year, $245 million contract extension with $165 million guaranteed, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Wilson is now the league's 2nd-highest-paid QB, behind only Aaron Rodgers. More interestingly, he's now signed for the next 7 seasons. Wilson will have just turned 40 when his current contract is up. We'll see if he's able to play through the life of it.
If you've been waiting for Russ to cook, then your time might have come. Here's what Peter King heard from an unnamed source: "Coach [Nathaniel Hackett] and Russell [Wilson] are not coach-player. They're partners." And Wilson seems to agree. "It's the ownership of the players owning our own offense," the QB said. "This has to be a player-ran kind of team. Coach Hackett gives us the keys to do that." Take this as confirmation of what we all hoped Wilson would be getting from the move out of Seattle.
Broncos WR Tim Patrick tore his right ACL in Tuesday's practice, insider Mike Klis reports. Patrick will miss the entire 2022 season. The timing of the injury at least gives Patrick a good chance to be ready for the start of the 2023 campaign. He signed a 3-year, $34 million extension last November. We had Patrick projected for 85 targets, so this opens up a lot of potential volume for Denver's other pass catchers. WR Jerry Jeudy, WR Courtland Sutton, TE Albert Okwuegbunam and TE Greg Dulcich all get boosts in the rankings. But the biggest winner is WR K.J. Hamler, who has a clear path to the #3 job if he can make it back from last September's torn ACL and dislocated hip.
Nick Kosmider of The Athletic considers K.J. Hamler the Denver WR that best fits Russell Wilson’s skill set. Hamler suffered a torn left ACL and a dislocated hip in Week 3 of last season. Following a smooth rehab, the speedster could fill a key role alongside one of the league’s best deep ball passers. Kosmider notes that the 3rd-year pro posted a massive 20.1 air yards per target in a limited 2021 sample. Given the crowded WR depth chart, though, Hamler’s best off as a late-round WR7/8 in best ball leagues.
Speaking Wednesday, new Broncos QB Russell Wilson discussed how long he’d like to remain an NFL QB. “My goal is to play 10 or 12 more years and hopefully win three or four more Super Bowls. That’s the plan,” Wilson said via NBC Sports. “That’s the mindset. That’s why I came here, to finish my career here and hopefully finish on top as a champion. And do it multiple times.” Wilson turns 34 in November, so playing as long as he wants is a major long-shot. Still, the move to Denver — and his current mindset — looks favorable for his dynasty value.
The Broncos have acquired QB Russell Wilson from the Seahawks for what NFL Network's Tom Pelissero is calling a "massive haul" that includes "multiple" 1st-round picks, players and other picks. We'll see about the final compensation. ESPN's Adam Schefter adds that QB Drew Lock is part of the package heading to Seattle. Wilson leaves 1 of the league's best WR tandems in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett but lands in a talented offense. Denver returns WR Jerry Jeudy for his 3rd season, extended WRs Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick last year, get KJ Hamler back from his ACL tear and sports Albert Okwuegbunam at TE. We'll see about the specific offensive plans of new HC Nathaniel Hackett, who arrived this offseason after 3 years as Packers OC. For now, Wilson seems appropriately valued at his QB12 ADP. Lock should get a chance at winning the 2022 starting gig in Seattle, though we'll see what else the team has planned at the position. Metcalf and Lockett necessarily get fantasy downgrades after opening their careers with 1 of the most efficient passers in NFL history. Stay tuned for updates as more details get released.
Update: Full details of the trade: Denver gets Wilson plus a 4th-round pick. Seattle gets QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant, DL Shelby Harris, 2 first-round picks, 2 second-round picks and a 5th-round pick.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Commanders made an offer to the Seahawks for QB Russell Wilson that included "multiple" 1st-round picks. Seattle reportedly rejected that, and talks don't seem to be ongoing. That tells us a couple of things, though: 1) Washington seems serious about upgrading at QB, and 2) The Seahawks just might be serious about keeping Wilson. For now, at least, we're drafting (and projecting) as though Wilson will remain in Seattle for 2022. We'll see how both situations develop.
This week's Seahawks-Rams game has been moved from Sunday to Tuesday, according to multiple reports, as the Rams deal with a rash of COVID positives. This game won't be on the DFS main slate but will still count for Week 15 in season-long leagues. We'll see if RB Darrell Henderson, WR Odell Beckham and WR Tyler Lockett are able to clear COVID protocols in time for the game.
Update: This game will kick off at 7 pm ET on Tuesday.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (finger) has been activated from IR. It's confirmation that he'll start Sunday's game vs. the Packers. Wilson said Thursday that his right middle finger is around 90% healed, so he carries a bit more risk than usual in Week 10 fantasy lineups.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson admitted Thursday that his right middle finger still isn't back to 100%. "I feel great," Wilson said. "I feel really close. I'm not 100% yet, but I'm pretty dang close. I would say 90th percentile if not higher. I feel great. I've got great conviction about what I'm doing, how I'm doing it. My mindset is better than ever. I'm ready to roll and ready to go." Wilson said he's noticed the finger in practice this week but believes he can make every throw. He'll come with slightly elevated risk in his 1st game back vs. the Packers on Sunday.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (finger) has been cleared to return for Sunday's game vs. the Packers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Wilson will end up missing just 3 games. He was sitting 9th among QBs through 4 healthy weeks and has the 7th easiest QB schedule from Week 10 through 17.
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson tweeted Monday that the pin is out of his injured right middle finger. He said: "No more pin. Time to Win." That should mean the QB is on track to play Week 10, after Seattle's bye. We'll certainly watch to confirm.
