Tim Patrick Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Lions RB David Montgomery injured his right MCL in Sunday's loss to the Bills and will be out indefinitely. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it's a tear and that Montgomery might be out through the playoffs. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports it as a sprain but adds that Montgomery will have further testing. Whatever the specific diagnosis and return timeline, it seems a pretty safe bet that Montgomery will miss the rest of the regular season.

Lions WR Tim Patrick followed his 2-TD Week 14 with another TD among 4 receptions for 30 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills. His 8 targets marked a second straight week of setting a season high in that category, and Patrick has caught 4+ passes in three of his past four games.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown racked up 14 catches for 193 yards and a TD on 18 targets as Detroit threw for 494 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills. Those numbers accounted for a 30.5% share of Jared Goff's total pass attempts, 36.8% of completions, and 39% of the team's receiving yards.

Lions WR Tim Patrick saw a season-high 18% target share in Thursday’s win over Green Bay. That turned into a surprising 6-43-2 line, with both of his TDs coming in goal line situations. The veteran even out-targeted Amon-Ra St. Brown by one. Now, Thursday turned up Patrick’s first TDs of the season. But it’s clear he’s ticketed for a larger role with Kalif Raymond (foot) set to miss at least a couple more weeks. Week 15 turns up a tough matchup vs. Buffalo, followed by another formidable secondary in Chicago. Patrick remains a shaky deep-league bet.

The Lions will place WR Kalif Raymond (foot) on IR, knocking him out for at least the next four games, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Raymond has run a route on just 36% of Detroit's pass plays this season and averaged 1.9 targets per game, so there's minimal fantasy impact here. We'll likely see WR Tim Patrick play more snaps with Raymond out, but he remains off the redraft radar.

Lions QB Jared Goff went a solid 26 of 36 passing (72.2%) for 269 yards (7.47 yards per attempt) in Sunday's win over the Colts. But all three of Detroit's TDs went to RBs, on the ground.

The league has suspended Lions WR Jameson Williams two games for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.

WR Kalif Raymond emerged as the surprise target leader in the Lions' beatdown of Dallas in Week 6. His 6 targets edged RB Jahmyr Gibbs by one and put Raymond two ahead of any other teammate. He caught four of them for 73 yards, doubling his reception total for the season.

The Lions are signing WR Tim Patrick. He'll start on the practice squad, "with the idea that he will work his way on to the active roster," per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Mike Klis of 9News reports that the Broncos are "moving on from" WR Tim Patrick. Klis says the team is looking into trade opportunities and that Patrick is "generating strong interest" on the market. The league-wide roster cutdown deadline comes Tuesday.

Broncos HC Sean Payton named QB Bo Nix his starting QB on Wednesday. This was the most likely scenario when Denver took Nix with the 12th overall pick of this spring's draft. Nix bolstered his case with two strong preseason outings, completing 76.7% of his passes at 7.0 yards per attempt with two TDs and zero INTs.

Broncos WR Troy Franklin has struggled in training camp, but the Broncos appear to want to keep developing him slowly. With the team preferring veterans like Tim Patrick, Franklin could be in line for a redshirt or special teams year only.

Broncos WR Troy Franklin is no higher than fifth on the depth chart right now, according to insider Benjamin Allbright. Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, and Josh Reynolds are the top three WRs, with Tim Patrick looking like the No. 4, per Allbright.

The Broncos are trading WR Jerry Jeudy to the Browns for fifth- and sixth-round picks in this year's draft, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It's clearly a cost-cutting move for Denver, which avoids the nearly $13 million cap hit of the final season on Jeudy's contract. The move should allow second-year WR Marvin Mims to hit the starting lineup, though he'll have to compete with returning WR Tim Patrick. Jeudy arrives to a Cleveland corps that already sported WRs Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore. Right now we'd bet on Jeudy garnering more targets than Moore, who earned just 16.7% target share in his first year with the Browns. But it's certainly not an exciting landing spot for Jeudy's upside. That's magnified by QB Deshaun Watson's lackluster play in 2023 before his season-ending shoulder injury. Jeudy's fine to stack with Watson on best ball rosters at their respective prices: WR61 in Underdog Fantasy ADP for Jeudy; QB23 for Watson. Just don't expect either to be a championship winner. That said, Watson sports a nice crew of pass-catchers now, with the aforementioned wideouts and TE David Njoku. Cleveland second-year WR Cedric Tillman, meanwhile, looks blocked from relevance for at least one more year. He's not a must-hold in dynasty.

Broncos WR Tim Patrick suffered a "complete tear" of his left Achilles in Monday's practice, insider Mike Klis reports. It's the second straight year Patrick has suffered a season-ending injury in August, following last year's torn ACL. Patrick was battling with rookie Marvin Mims for Denver's No. 3 WR job this season. This injury gives Mims a clear runway to that job -- and officially puts him on our 2023 sleeper radar.

Broncos rookie WR Marvin Mims returned to practice on Monday. He had dealt with a hamstring issue. If Tim Patrick’s leg injury is serious, Mims will become a staple in Denver’s 3-WR sets.

Broncos WR Tim Patrick was carted off with an apparent non-contact leg injury. Reporter Mike Klis tweeted that the injury “appears” to be to Patrick’s left leg. The veteran sustained a right ACL tear nearly one year ago. We’ll let you know when more details emerge.

Update: HC Sean Payton said Patrick is being evaluated for a left Achilles injury. We'll keep an eye out for more information.

NFL Network's James Palmer had "multiple people" in the Broncos organization tell him that Tim Patrick is "the best football player in that WR room." That WR room also includes Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and second-round rookie Marvin Mims. QB Russell Wilson felt most comfortable throwing to Patrick last offseason, per Palmer. And the belief (hope?) is that Patrick's August torn ACL played a big part in Wilson's ugly 2022 season. Patrick is on track to be ready for Week 1, which is good news for Wilson. But it's tough to see Patrick emerging as a reliable fantasy option barring an injury to Jeudy or Sutton. Patrick is at least worth considering near the end of best-ball drafts.
