Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) is active for tonight's game against the Vikings. Use him as planned in your IDP lineups.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Vikings. Greenlaw managed limited practices Friday and Saturday after sitting out Thursday. He missed the Week 6 loss to the Browns. The late kickoff makes it tough to wait on Greenlaw, and we've knocked him down the Week 7 LB rankings to present more options who are playing earlier. If you'd like to -- or need to -- wait for Greenlaw, try to secure LB Oren Burks as insurance. He played every snap against the Browns last week.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw isn't practicing Thursday because of the hamstring injury that kept him out of Week 6. HC Kyle Shanahan called him day to day, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows. We'll watch for progress ahead of Monday night's game against the Vikings.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) is inactive for today's game against the Browns. Oren Burks looks like the best bet to run second among 49ers LBs in playing time.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns. He missed the first two practices before returning to a limited Friday. This looks like a risky spot to play Greenlaw. We've moved him down our Week 6 LB rankings but will confirm his game status Sunday.
San Francisco CB Charvarius Ward returned to limited practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday with a heel injury. We'll see about his outlook for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw opened this week by missing Wednesday's practice and then returning for a limited Thursday. It's the same way he opened Week 4's practice slate after hurting an ankle in Week 3. Greenlaw played through the injury last Sunday and tallied 10 tackles in the win over Arizona. We'd bet on him being ready for this week's clash against Dallas. We'll watch for confirmation.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (ankle) is active for today's game against the Cardinals. Play him as planned in IDP lineups.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw opened the week missing practice with a groin injury. But he returned for a limited Thursday workout and participated fully on Friday. The 49ers left him off the final injury report, indicating that Greenlaw is ready for Sunday's game against the Rams without restriction.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw missed practice Wednesday with a groin injury. We'll see how he fares the next two days, ahead of Sunday's meeting with the Rams.
The 49ers have agreed to a five-year, $170 million extension with Edge Nick Bosa, according to multiple reports. The pact ends Bosa's holdout ahead of Sunday's opener against the Steelers and makes him the highest-paid defensive player in the league. We never moved Bosa down the preseason or weekly IDP rankings for this situation. The star has already proved he can deliver on little practice time.
The 49ers have agreed to a four-year deal with DT Javon Hargrave. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that it's worth $84 million overall, with $40 million of that guaranteed at signing. Hargrave delivered a career-high 11 sacks in 2022, his third season with the Eagles after arriving as a free agent. He racked up 34 QB hits over the past two years after topping out at 8 over his first five seasons. Hargrave's arrival could challenge the role of fourth-year DT Javon Kinlaw. The former first-round pick played in just 10 total games over the past two seasons because of injuries. Arik Armstead remains as well. Hargrave played 64.4% and 68.4% of the snaps over the past two years, so there's room for a three-man rotation. Hargrave should be the first (and maybe only in most cases) among the three to go in 2023 IDP drafts.
The Texans are hiring Demeco Ryans as HC, according to multiple reports. This has been assumed for at least a few days now, and it makes loads of sense for Houston. Ryans was a team leader across 6 years as MLB with the Texans, before finishing his playing career with 4 seasons in Philadelphia. He spent the past 6 years on San Francisco's coaching staff, including the past 2 as DC. Ryans piloted a 49ers defense that ranked 3rd and 1st in yards allowed the past 2 seasons; 9th and 1st in points allowed. He inherits a Texans roster that needs plenty of work. But Houston does hold 5 picks among the 1st 3 rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, including the #2 and #12 overall selections. Expect the Texans to select their next QB in Round 1, with Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud and Will Levis all in the current early-Round 1 discussion. The 49ers defense, meanwhile, should be fine. San Francisco ranked 6th and 2nd in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA the 2 years before Ryans took the helm.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw left Sunday's win over the Raiders with a back injury. HC Kyle Shanahan said Greenlaw would have a Monday MRI to determine the extent.
Niners CB Charvarius Ward (concussion) is active for today's game against the Commanders. Use him in IDP lineups if you'd planned to.
Niners CB Charvarius Ward (concussion) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Commanders. We'll check his status that afternoon.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa (hamstring) "will play" today vs. the Buccaneers. That's significant for both IDP lineups and the 49ers' team defense. Bosa did sit out of practice all week, but he's still worth betting on for your fantasy football lineup. We've seen him effectively play through hamstring injuries before.
Niners EDGE Nick Bosa (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. We'll track his status over the weekend. Bosa is generally worth waiting for in IDP lineups if he has a shot to play.
Niners DL Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) put in a limited practice Wednesday. It marked the 1st time he has participated in a Wednesday practice since Week 1 and just his 3rd limited workout since then. Armstead has been dealing with lower-body issues all season. We'll see whether he's finally ready to return to game action for what would be the 1st time since Week 4.
Officials ejected 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw late in the 2nd quarter of Sunday night's game against the Chargers after a hit to the head of Chargers QB Justin Herbert. We wouldn't bet on any league suspension accompanying this, so Greenlaw should be set to return next Monday night at Arizona.
