Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Niners S Jimmie Ward is dealing with a hamstring injury. According to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, HC Kyle Shanahan called it "worse than others" and said Ward is in danger of missing Week 1. It's not a big storyline for IDP purposes, but Ward has a place in deep leagues. His absence would be a slight knock on the team defense as well.
Niners DL Arik Armstead is expected to miss "a few weeks" after spraining his right knee this week. That's what HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters Friday, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. Armstead reportedly thought it was a bruise at first, but MRI revealed the more significant injury. There's still time for the vet to work beyond the issue ahead of the regular season. We'll see, though, whether it remains a factor come Week 1. Armstead opened camp as a DT this year after shifting between end and tackle in 2021.
Niners DE Nick Bosa says the beginning of this year's training camp has been "completely different" because of better health. "Last year, I didn't really take any reps until a couple of weeks before the year," he said Friday, per NBC Sports Bay Area. Last year's camp found Bosa still working back from the ACL tear that ended his 2020 campaign in Week 2. His rookie camp featured Bosa missing a lot of time with a hamstring injury. The beast still managed 15.5 sacks and a league-leading 21 tackles for loss in 2021. And he was no slouch as a 2019 rookie (25 QB hits). If we get an even better version of Bosa this year ... we might not even know yet what the ceiling is. Grant Cohn of All49ers.com told us on Friday's podcast that San Francisco has a shot to sport the league's best defense this season. Bosa is a key factor in that.
The 49ers selected EDGE Drake Jackson late in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. Jackson brings decent size, at 6'3 and 273 pounds. He didn't run during pre-draft testing after a late-season injury, but Jackson doesn't look particularly speedy on tape. He enjoyed his best statistical season as a freshman, tallying 46 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and 3 pass deflections. He didn't reach 10 TFLs either of the ensuring 2 campaigns, though. Jackson doesn't look like a high-upside IDP prospect from here.
The 49ers have agreed to a 3-year, $40.5 million deal with CB Charvarius Ward. He spent the past 3 seasons starting for the Chiefs but totaled just 4 INTs over that span. He has been a solid tackle collector for IDP squads and will remain worth consideration for CB-required formats.
The 49ers announced Friday that DE Nick Bosa has cleared the concussion protocol and carries no injury status into Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers
San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa is officially questionable for Saturday night's game against the Packers after suffering a concussion in the Wild Card win at Dallas. HC Kyle Shanahan said Thursday, though, that Bosa's chances of playing are "looking good," according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. LB Fred Warner, meanwhile, carries no injury status into Saturday's game after hurting an ankle against the Cowboys.
The 49ers lost DE Nick Bosa to a concussion in the 1st half of Sunday's win over the Cowboys. We'll see whether he can make it back in time for the Divisional-Round matchup with Green Bay.
Niners LBs Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) and Marcell Harris (Achilles') are inactive for today's game against the Rams. S Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) and LB Dre Greenlaw (groin) are active after arriving questionable.
Niners LB Azeez Al-Shaair is active for tonight's game against the Titans. Use him as planned, which is LB3 territory in our Week 16 IDP rankings.
Niners LB Azeez Al-Shaair is questionable for Thursday night's game against the Titans with the elbow injury that kept him our of Sunday's game. He put in limited practices all 3 days this week. We'll see about his status Thursday evening.
Niners LB Azeez Al-Shaair is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Falcons with the elbow injury he suffered last week. Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles is the next guy up behind him, but Marcell Harris figures to be the #2 LB in playing time Sunday behind Fred Warner.
Niners LB Azeez Al-Shaair left Sunday's win over the Bengals with an elbow injury. He'll have an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage, according to multiple reports.
The 49ers have placed CB Emmanuel Moseley on IR with an ankle injury. That knocks him out until at least Week 17. With CB Dontae Johnson ruled out for a personal reason, San Francisco heads into today's matchup with the Bengals missing 2 starting corners. That can only enhance the matchup for Bengals WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Niners CB Emmanuel Moseley left Sunday's game at Seattle with an ankle injury. We'll see whether he'll miss further time. San Francisco heads to Cincinnati next Sunday.
The 49ers deemed LB Fred Warner (hamstring) doubtful for Sunday's game at Seattle. The only surprise there is that he has any chance of playing. Initial reports projected him to miss a week or 2 with the injury. Expect the Niners to be without their star LB, though. LB Dre Greenlaw (groin) has been ruled out. LB/S Marcell Harris (concussion) is questionable. The depleted LB corps helps the outlook for Seahawks TE Gerald Everett.
ESPN reports that the 49ers expect LB Fred Warner to miss 1-2 weeks with the hamstring strain he suffered in Sunday's win over the Vikings. Fellow LB Dre Greenlaw is day-to-day, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News reports. That leaves Azeez Al-Shaair as the best bet to lead San Francisco LBs in playing time for the Week 13 clash with Seattle.
