Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (ribs) will be a game-day decision for Sunday's tilt with the Jaguars, HC Kliff Kingsbury said Friday. Hopkins didn't practice all week. He's missed just 2 games over his 8-year NFL career, so we wouldn't count Hopkins out of this one yet. We should get an update on his status on Sunday morning. Hopkins' absence would turn WRs Christian Kirk and Rondale Moore into near every-down players, alongside WR A.J. Green.

Falcons WR Russell Gage (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Giants. That leaves Olamide Zaccheaus, Christian Blake and Tajae Sharp as Atlanta's 2nd through 4th WRs. None of those guys are viable fantasy options. Gage's absence should just mean a few extra targets for WR Calvin Ridley and TE Kyle Pitts.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Seahawks. We're still waiting to see what he did in Friday's practice, but HC Mike Zimmer said in his Friday press conference that Cook is "doing much better." Zimmer stopped short of guaranteeing that Cook will play on Sunday, though. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation. Alexander Mattison will step in as Minnesota's lead back if Cook is out.

Update: Cook did not practice on Friday.

Browns WR Odell Beckham (knee) isn't listed on the final injury report after putting in a full week of practice. ESPN's Dan Graziano confirmed on Friday morning that OBJ is on track to make his 2021 debut vs. the Bears this weekend, barring a setback between now and then. OC Alex Van Pelt suggested that Beckham will be on some type of snap count on Sunday. But, especially with WR Jarvis Landry out, Beckham could still see plenty of volume. Consider him a risk/reward WR3 for this week.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) is expected to miss "a few weeks," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Carolina isn't planning to put McCaffrey on IR "as of now," Rapoport adds. Hopefully we get a more concrete timeline -- but if McCaffrey doesn't land on IR, that means the team expects him to miss no more than 2 weeks. It's looking like CMC avoided a serious injury.

49ers GM John Lynch called RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) "very questionable" for Sunday night's game against the Packers. We'll see if Mitchell does anything in practice later today -- and then how he's listed on the final injury report. RB Trey Sermon's Week 3 status is also up in the air with his concussion. Trenton Cannon and Jacques Patrick are the only healthy RBs on San Francisco's active roster. RB Kerryon Johnson is a potential practice-squad callup.

Browns WR Odell Beckham (knee) "has had a good week of practice" and is on track to play vs. the Bears on Sunday "barring an unforeseen setback between now and game time," ESPN's Dan Graziano reports. Beckham has been trending toward making his 2021 debut this weekend since putting in his first full practice of the year on Wednesday. OC Alex Van Pelt suggested that Beckham will be on some type of snap count in Week 3, though, which lowers his fantasy ceiling and floor.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is scheduled for testing on his injured hamstring on Friday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. So we should get an idea of how long CMC will be out later today. Per Rapoport, McCaffrey was quickly ruled out of last night's game because he "could not push off at all on that hamstring." McCaffrey owners should be bracing for a multi-game absence, but we'll pass along more info as soon as we have it. After McCaffrey exited the Texans game, RB Chuba Hubbard out-snapped RB Royce Freeman 38 to 11. Hubbard is the priority add on waiver wires, but Freeman is worth a stash in most leagues, too.

Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey suffered a hamstring injury in the 2nd quarter of Thursday night's game vs. the Texans and was quickly ruled out. That suggests a relatively serious injury. We'll update McCaffrey's status as soon as we learn more. RB Chuba Hubbard looks like the next man up for Carolina. RB Royce Freeman is also on the roster.

49ers RB Trey Sermon (concussion) remained limited in Thursday's practice. He still has multiple stages of the protocol to clear if he's to play vs. the Packers on Sunday night. We'll get another update on his progress tomorrow.

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. His injury supposedly isn't serious, so Mitchell might still have a chance to play vs. the Packers on Sunday night. But the missed practice time is a concern for a rookie. We'll see what he's able to do tomorrow.

Rams RB Darrell Henderson (ribs) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. The team is expected to test those injured ribs on Friday. Check back then for another update.

Texans S Justin Reid (knee) is inactive for tonight’s game against the Panthers. Houston lists Terrance Brooks as his backup.

Eagles RB Miles Sanders (chest) was limited on Thursday, the team's first practice of the week. We don't have any other info on the injury, but the fact that Sanders was out there at all suggests he'll be available for Monday night's game vs. the Cowboys. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. HC Zac Taylor labeled him "day to day" earlier in the week, suggesting it's not a serious injury. But Higgins at least seems to be in danger of missing Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Giants WR Kenny Golladay (hip) has been limited in the first 2 practices of the week. He should be available for this weekend's game vs. the Falcons, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (ribs) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. We've yet to see any real concern about Hopkins' Week 3 status, but make sure to check back tomorrow afternoon for another update.

Titans TE Anthony Firkser (knee) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He's looking unlikely to play vs. the Colts this weekend. TEs MyCole Pruitt and Geoff Swaim split pass routes with Firkser out last week, leaving both guys without bankable fantasy value.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (pectoral) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. Beat writer Mark Kaboly believes Big Ben will "likely" play vs. the Bengals this weekend. He was struggling even before this injury, though, and will probably be without top WR Diontae Johnson on Sunday. It leaves Roethlisberger as a low-end QB2 for Week 3.

Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (knee) missed practice again on Thursday. He's unlikely to play vs. the Bengals this weekend. That'd elevate WR James Washington into the starting lineup and mean more targets for WRs Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
