In addition to getting first-round picks from the Colts each of the next two years in the Sauce Gardner trade, the Jets are also acquiring WR Adonai Mitchell.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The relative throw-in status for the second-year wideout in this trade probably tells us two things:
- The Colts were fine with letting him go.
- The Jets targeted him over other down-the-roster Colts.
Mitchell failed to grow his role with Indy this season, notably disappointing with his play when pressed into duty while WR Alec Pierce was out.
The Jets, however, sport little beyond Garrett Wilson at the position. That means immediate opportunity for a former second-round pick whose rookie contract runs through 2027.
Of course, Mitchell must deal with one of the league's worst QB situations, which will need to prove it can support more than one pass-catcher in fantasy.
Expect Mitchell to remain fantasy-irrelevant for 2025, though he now has a better chance of popping up for a stray noteworthy week.
Dynasty Impact
Mitchell gets a bit more interesting beyond this season for the move. Although the Jets clearly don't have a long-term QB answer on the roster, they're stockpiling chances to draft such a player.
Mitchell hasn't given fantasy managers anything worth getting excited about yet, but he's stashable in dynasty.
