QB Jacoby Brissett endured easily his roughest outing Sunday since taking over for the injured Kyler Murray. He took five sacks in the loss to the Seahawks and lost a pair of fumbles that each got returned for TDs (both by Edge Demarcus Lawrence). Brissett completed just half of his 44 pass attempts for an offense that didn't score until it already trailed 35-0, and even then thanks to Sam Darnold turning the ball over at his own 2-yard line. But Brissett still managed 258 yards and 2 TDs passing, plus another 31 yards on four rushing attempts. He heads into Monday night with the ninth-best fantasy total among QBs for the week, according to ESPN scoring.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
That follows fantasy finishes of QB7, QB11, and QB10 in Brissett's first three starts for the Cardinals.
Pressure has been an issue. Sunday marked the third straight game in which Brissett took at least five sacks. But it also marked the fourth straight in which he threw a pair of TD passes.
Since he stepped in for Week 6, Brissett trails only Joe Flacco in pass attempts per game (38.75). Only Flacco is averaging more passing yards per game over that span as well. And Brissett ranks tied for seventh in TD passes per game for that time.
He also checks in 11th among QBs in rushing yards per game for that time frame (20.0).
Murray's IR placement ahead of the Seattle clash means he'll miss at least three more contests with his foot injury. That gives Brissett starts against the 49ers, Jaguars, and Buccaneers -- all of which sport much friendlier defenses than Seattle's.
Just as absolutely no one predicted: Brissett could play a key role in positioning for the fantasy football playoffs.
