Bills WR Khalil Shakir caught eight of 10 targets for a season-high 110 yards in Thursday night's loss to the Texans. It was a strong bounce back from Week 11, when he finished with negative-three yards on one catch. As usual, most of Shakir's work came near the line of scrimmage vs. Houston. But he made two big plays in key moments. The first came on a swing pass off jet motion on a third-and-12 in the fourth quarter. Shakir caught the short pass and shook two Texans defenders for a 44-yard gain. Then, facing a fourth-and-22 late in the fourth, the Bills called and perfectly executed a hook-and-ladder. WR Josh Palmer caught the ball 11 yards downfield and pitched to Shakir, who picked up another 33 yards to get the first down. Shakir does not get credit for a catch on that play, but does get the 33 receiving yards.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
That ugly Week 11 looks like the outlier for Shakir, in terms of both usage and production. He ran a route on just 67% of pass plays and drew a 10% target share in that game.
He rebounded with an 80% route rate and 29% target share vs. Houston. Shakir has now drawn 20+% of Buffalo's targets in four of his last five games and six of his last eight. He's finished as a top-36 WR in PPR points in five of those eight games, including three top-20 finishes.
With the rest of Buffalo's WR corps failing to deliver, Shakir should remain a key cog in the offense the rest of the way.
He gets nice matchups the next three weeks against the Steelers, Bengals, and Patriots. Pittsburgh and New England rank bottom-4 in adjusted fantasy points allowed to WRs. Cincinnati sits in the middle of the pack, but the Bills should score plenty in that game.
Note, though, that Shakir closes the fantasy season with difficult draws against the Browns' ninth-ranked WR defense and the Eagles' fifth-ranked unit.
