A.J. Brown Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Eagles WR A.J. Brown still led the team in targets in Week 2, but his 8 looks merely beat WR DeVonta Smith by 1 and TE Dallas Goedert by 2. Brown caught 5 balls for 69 yards in the easy win over Minnesota. Smith caught all 7 of his targets for 80 yards, while Goedert supplied 5 receptions for a team-high 82 yards. QB Jalen Hurts spread his other 10 pass attempts among 5 teammates. WR Quez Watkins caught the night's only TD pass, a 53-yarder that was 1 of his 2 receptions on 2 targets. Brown's share marked a predictable fall from the heights of Week 1, but he still garnered 25.8% target share vs. Minnesota.

If the opener laid out Philly's passing plan, then WR A.J. Brown will not have any target-volume issues. Instead, he'll be a big problem for his teammates. Brown claimed 13 targets among QB Jalen Hurts' 32 pass attempts in Sunday's win over the Lions, a 40.6% share. That's certainly not a rate we'd bet on continuing. But Brown could lose a quarter of that share and still rank among the league leaders in the category. He caught 10 balls for 155 yards, factoring in at all levels of the passing game. No other Eagle drew more than 4 targets, with TE Dallas Goedert, WR DeVonta Smith and RB Kenneth Gainwell tying for 2nd place. Goedert managed 3 catches for 60 yards. Smith didn't catch a pass. Brown will obviously remain a weekly starter for any fantasy team that drafted him. Goedert looks fine to continue using, as we'd expect at least a slight bump from his Week 1 target share of 12.5%. Smith would be better to bench at least until we see this passing picture develop a little further. Smith did, at least, play 6 more snaps than Brown and run 1 more route vs. Detroit.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Titans are trading WR A.J. Brown to the Eagles. We'll see about the terms of the deal. The move doesn't look great for Brown. He goes from a Tennessee pass offense he would have dominated to a Philly offense that went even more run-heavy in 2021. Devonta Smith's presence also gives Brown arguably(?) the most talented WR he has played with since hitting the league. We'd bet on the Eagles throwing much more often in 2022. We'll see what the Titans add to an offense that now sports a recovering Robert Woods as its top WR.

Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapport reports that Philadelphia is giving Brown a 4-year, $100 million extension (with $57 million guaranteed).

Titans WR A.J. Brown (calf) is not listed on the final Week 17 injury report. He missed Thursday’s practice but returned to a full workout on Friday. Brown is safe to get into fantasy lineups for Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins.

Titans WR A.J. Brown was added to the injury report with a calf and did not practice on Thursday. "All indications are it’s more precautionary than anything and he’s on track to play Sunday," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo tweeted. Brown can stay penciled into Week 17 fantasy lineups for now, but check back tomorrow for another update on his status.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) has been activated from IR and will play vs. the 49ers tonight. He's been out since Week 11 but had no setbacks in practice this week, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's unclear exactly how big a role Brown will play tonight, but he obviously brings plenty of upside. See exactly where Brown sits in the Week 16 WR Rankings.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) is trending toward returning for Thursday night's game vs. the 49ers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He's looking pretty good," Rapoport added. "If all checks out well in practice, if it continues to head in this direction, we probably are gonna see Brown on the field" on Thursday. Tennessee desperately needs Brown back with WR Julio Jones likely out again with more hamstring trouble. Brown would come with more risk than usual in his first action since Week 11 -- but he'd also bring huge upside to fantasy lineups.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) has been designated to return from IR. He's eligible to practice this week and be activated for Thursday night's game vs. the 49ers. He's still not guaranteed to be ready for that one, but we're tentatively expecting him to be out there. Brown would be a risky-but-high-upside fantasy play in his first action since Week 11.

The Titans have placed WR A.J. Brown on IR for his chest injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it's not expected to end his season, so we should see him back at some point in December. But the earliest he can return is Week 16. Tennessee has its bye next week. That means Brown will -- at best -- make it back for the final 2 weeks of most fantasy leagues' seasons. If you play in a league with tight roster restrictions, Brown might be a drop candidate. Julio Jones will be eligible to come off IR after the bye. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Chester Rogers will lead the group this week, with Marcus Johnson out.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. He didn't practice all week, so his status for Week 13 and beyond is uncertain. WRs Julio Jones and Marcus Johnson are also out, leaving Tennessee with WRs Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Dez Fitzpatrick and Chester Rogers. It's a very tough spot for Ryan Tannehill against the league's 2nd-ranked QB defense.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) remained sidelined on Thursday. We'll see if he's able to practice on Friday, but fantasy owners need to be making other plans for Week 12.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (chest) did not practice on Wednesday. He's seemingly in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. Check back tomorrow for another update on Brown.

X-rays on Titans WR A.J. Brown's chest came back clean, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He’ll have more tests today and those can sometimes show more damage. But promising early returns," Rapoport adds. We'll look for another update on Brown, but it sounds like he has a chance to play vs. the Patriots this weekend. It's worth noting, though, that Tennessee has a Week 13 bye.

3:26pm EST 11/21/21

Titans WR A.J. Brown suffered a chest injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Texans and is officially questionable to return. We'll pass along an update when we get one.

The Titans have placed WR Julio Jones on IR for the hamstring he injured in Friday's practice. That knocks him out for at least the next 3 games, starting with Sunday's matchup with New Orleans. His absence can only help the target outlook for A.J. Brown, who was already dominating on that ront. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Chester Rogers were the next 2 WRs in playing time last week against the Rams, with nearly identical snap totals. Marcus Johnson trailed behind them. We also might see more work for a TE group with Geoff Swaim and Anthony Firkser at the front. The hamstring has been a nagging issue for Jones through most of the season. We'll see if this IR stint can shake it and make him a factor by fantasy playoff time.

6:58pm EST 11/7/21

Titans WR A.J. Brown (knee) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Rams. He was added to the injury report and did not practice on Friday, but we heard this morning that Brown would be “fine” for this game. Get him in fantasy lineups if you waited on him.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (knee) "should be fine" for Sunday night's game vs. the Rams, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Brown is listed as questionable after being added to the injury report and sidelined on Friday. We won't get his game status until around 7 pm ET tonight, but it sounds like he can be penciled into fantasy lineups.

Titans WR A.J. Brown (knee) was added to the injury report and did not practice on Friday. He's listed as questionable for Sunday night's game vs. the Rams. We'll look for further updates on his status. The late kickoff could make this a tricky situation for fantasy owners.
