Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Saints WR Chris Olave (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday. It looks like he's in legitimate danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Giants. Check back tomorrow to see how Olave is listed on the final injury report.
Saints WR Chris Olave (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. We don't have any other details on the injury. We'll look for further updates and see if Olave gets back on the practice field tomorrow.
Saints WR Chris Olave (illness) is active for today’s game vs. the Panthers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this morning that Olave is still sick, adding a bit of risk to his fantasy profile today. But he’s fine to use in most fantasy lineups.
Saints WR Chris Olave (illness) is expected to play vs. the Panthers today, although he remains "under the weather," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That adds a bit of risk to Olave's fantasy profile, but he's still more likely than not to play his usual role in this one.
Saints WR Chris Olave (illness) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Panthers. He's reportedly dealing with the flu and didn't practice on Thursday or Friday. HC Dennis Allen only said Friday that he's "hopeful" that Olave is available for the Carolina game. We're ultimately still expecting Olave to play but will keep you updated on his status.
Saints HC Dennis Allen said Monday that QB Derek Carr is in concussion protocol and has a rib injury. It's Carr's second concussion in the past four weeks. We'll see about the rib injury, but Carr is unlikely to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. That'll put QB Jameis Winston under center, which is seemingly excellent news for WR Chris Olave.
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) is active for today’s game vs. the Lions. He was a full-go in practice on Friday and should play his usual role today. Olave sits high in the Week 13 WR Rankings.
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) is expected to play vs. the Lions today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Olave made quick progress through the protocol and should be ready for his usual role today. Detroit's defense has struggled lately, allowing a WR to top 20 PPR points in each of the last three weeks. See where Olave lands in the Week 13 WR Rankings.
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Lions. He got in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday and was a full participant on Friday. HC Dennis Allen said Friday that Olave “has a chance” to play on Sunday – confirmation that he still has at least one stage of the protocol to pass through. We’ll look for further updates on Olave’s status and will get New Orleans’ inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. Olave will be a borderline WR1 if he’s cleared.
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) remained limited in Thursday's practice. He still has some work to do to clear the protocol but at least has a chance to play vs. the Lions on Sunday. We'll update his progress again tomorrow.
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. So he's made some good progress through the protocol, giving him a chance to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the Lions. We'll update Olave's status again tomorrow.
Saints WR Chris Olave put up stellar numbers in Week 12 vs. the Falcons. The second-year wideout hauled in 7 of his team-leading 9 targets for 114 receiving yards, the most he’s logged in a game in 2023. Olave is now averaging 10 targets per game since Week 6 with just two games of fewer than 16 PPR points in that span. He unfortunately left with a concussion in the third quarter of action, so we won’t be too sure of his availability for Week 13 vs. the Lions. Assuming he’s able to pass through the NFL’s concussion protocol before next Sunday, he’ll be in a great spot against a Detroit defense that ranks as the 11th-best WR matchup per our adjusted fantasy points allowed this season.
Saints WR Chris Olave has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. the Falcons with a concussion. That ends a big day for Olave, who had caught seven of nine targets for 114 yards. This is his third documented concussion. We'll track Olave's progress through the protocol this week, but he's more likely than not to miss Week 13.
Saints HC Dennis Allen called WR Michael Thomas' knee injury "fairly significant." He added that the injury isn't believed to be season-ending but that Thomas is getting a second opinion. The Saints have a Week 11 bye, but it sounds like we should expect Thomas to miss multiple games beyond that. He's droppable in most redraft fantasy leagues. Rookie WR A.T. Perry replaced Thomas in the Week 11 loss to the Vikings, catching two of four targets for 38 yards and a score. He's worth a look on the waiver wire in deep leagues. WRs Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed should also pick up more work with Thomas out.
Saints WR Chris Olave caught 6 of 9 targets for 94 receiving yards and a TD in Week 10 vs. the Vikings. Perhaps the most interesting note from this performance is that the second-year wideout had a considerably better connection with QB Jameis Winston on Sunday. Olave had only a single 15-yard catch prior to QB Derek Carr (concussion, shoulder) exiting the contest in the third quarter. With Winston in tow, he accumulated a receiving line of 7-79-1. It’s too soon to say if there will be any significance to this fact, given that the Saints are heading into their bye week. However, if Carr is unable to recover from injury by Week 12 vs. the Falcons, it might spell good news for Olave. It’ll be important to follow Carr’s progress over the next couple of weeks.
Saints WR Chris Olave hauled 6 of 8 targets for 46 receiving yards with 1 TD in Week 9 vs. the Bears. He’s the only non-RB to exceed 30 receiving yards in this contest. The biggest takeaway from Sunday’s action is the continued dominance of TE hybrid Taysom Hill. He accumulated 65 total yards with 4 catches and a receiving TD, totaling 20.6 PPR points. It’s difficult to know when to trust Hill, but he’s worth starting as long as he stays hot.
Saints WR Chris Olave was arrested on Monday night for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, insider Nick Underhill reports. Olave was clocked going 35 mph over the speed limit. "He did not resist and was cooperative with law enforcement," Underhill adds. This is unlikely to draw Olave a suspension, but we'll keep an eye on the situation.
Saints WR Chris Olave has struggled over the past two weeks. Fortunately, the second-year wideout had a resurgent effort in Week 6 vs. the Texans, hauling 7 catches on 11 targets for 96 yards. His teammate Michael Thomas once again delivered with 5 catches on 8 targets for 45 yards in the contest. The improving health of QB Derek Carr’s shoulder should help each of these pass-catchers sustain good value again in Week 7 vs. the Jaguars on Thursday night.
Saints WR Chris Olave (toe) is not listed on the final Week 6 injury report. He practiced all week, including full workouts on Thursday and Friday. Olave seemed hobbled prior to last week’s game but should be close to 100% for Sunday’s meeting with the Texans.
Saints WR Chris Olave (toe) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. He'll play vs. the Texans this weekend -- and that toe shouldn't be a major issue.
